I think we could do with a RB and potentially a LCB backup but I trust DC and no business probably means it's decent news on Mingi (and even MSH...?). I'll take a quiet day if that's the case. Not fussed about a backup LCB - there are so few left-footed centre backs who can play in a three or a four, bring the ball out and pass well, as well as do all the defensive and aerial stuff we’re looking for. That’s why we didn’t manage to sign one for a good couple of years until the emergence of Pye and why he’s such a valuable player. If there were a quality young player floating about I’d take them, but can’t imagine there are many. Feel like we’ve got our centre backs covered quite nicely with Connolly, Hughes, Mingi (when they’re not all injured!) and Onyango. in a back four the lcb position doesn't need to be left footed. Its just a nice bonus but in a back 3 then left footed cb is vital for lcb

I'm sure we will start as a back 3 plenty of times this season too.

Remember last August transfer window on the last day, the club announced Odin Bailey and we thought what have we signed him for!
Can we have another signing tomorrow who turns out the same as Odin, who has been a revelation. Or do you think tomorrow will pass mildly without a further signing?

I just hope we don't see us losing any of this current squad tomorrow, as it's pretty dam good

I think something will happen, agents will be ringing round now and we're one of their go to clubs, I don't think we need anything but you never know who we'll be offered, I would like to see Powell moved on for everyone's sake, I like him but I just don't see where he fits now.

It feels like Powell's best hope with us is to feature as a 'bit part' player, and I can't seeing that working to anyone's satisfaction, either. He's the sort of player who can win you the game on his day, but also maybe needs the rest of the team to be structured to get that best out of him. There might have been a time when this was viewed as a strategy worth pursuing, but I think it's clearly gone now.

Good thread for some stats so far this season and can see how we fare against the rest of the league

When Powell played last season, particularly in the second half of the season, he was different class. If the club decide to move him on because of his proneness to injury, fair enough. But for me, in terms of ability he's one of our best players. Would be disappointed to see him go.

One way i,d like to see him move on but then we have not seen what he can do in a higher league thats a better standard which could suit him more. Until we can see him on the pitch for us it does seem a bit premature moving him on as its guess work from everyone including DC how he would perform. If he doesn,t do a job then wait till january to make him available for transfer.

Liking the thought of us having the reputation of a “go to club”

I would be surprised if we didn’t sign a couple of players: RB loaner and forward. Possibly a left sided player too if their is one who can do left mid and LWB

If we play a front 3 we have Mellon (now expected back in training soonish), Barry, Wootton, Tanto, Diamond and Fevrier. 6 quality options (which is really the max to keep everyone happy) as well as the likes of Bailey, Fiorini and Collar who could fill in. We can also play a front 2. We also have 3 options at LWB ranging from pacey / attacking ( Adaramola), to creator (Rydel) to defensive stalwart (Touray). I agree a RB would make sense though.
