Is that Che Gardner on the bench ? Edit. Didn’t see your comment at the bottom initially. Can I call Marsden on myself? Additional info on some of the Academy lads who played against Birmingham
Still can’t shake the idea I might have seen Jid Okeke performing with a load of other Ninja Tune acts at Band on the Wall back in the day. Not worthy of a spurious Lesser Free Trade Hall gig, obviously, but it’s still my first thought every time I see his name…

Any reports on the trialists? I'm guessing they were potential academy players rather than recognised pros looking for minutes?

I think the number 7 looked the better of the two. He played next to cody in cm. Imo had a better game than cody. The number 9 looked had a good game too linking up well and had abit of strength

Decent strike that! Van Basten-esque. I suppose the only thing missing (what comes on top of the cherry on top of the icing on the cake?) would be a few more youngsters coming through and ripping up trees in the first team.

They are all below that league. Cody and okeke have both been on multiple loans in the nln/nls and have had rave reviews whenever they've been but they find themselves there again

That's going to really tough for a bit, especially if we do make it to the Championship. We've gone up three leagues in six years, two in three years. Our Academy is basically being rebuilt from the ground up. These things take time. You need the infrastructure (and money) to attract talent and signs that the team is on the up and there is a pathway to the first team. We've probably got that now but it will take years to come to fruition and even then no youth setup going to keep up with that rise. The PL clubs also hover up so much talent as they only have to get about 1 in 100 right for it to pay off.

That will be a big factor in our thinking as well as demand for the player.

Chally and the backroom staff obviously think he has great potential or he wouldn’t have had those opportunities. He also got a broadside after the Blackburn game and clear instructions of what he needs to do to make his mark more permanents at County.

He can't live off a Cruyff turn for very much longer

A big part of the learning curve is fighting for a spot in a starting 11 and not a guarenteed place in a side which might be below their level. Fine they are getting game time but thats about it.

I really wish we wouldn't call him starboy. Another horrible football trend. Up there with every manager's own style being ...ball. I better never hear the phrase Challyball. Oh and don't get me started when you go on social media and read people saying X "deserves their flowers" (meaning praise).
