Potter's footballing IQ is very high. It's his personality I'd wonder about but his personality is similar to Southgate's and people liked that. Major correction. People liked it after Southgate had walked the walk. His appointment was NOT remotely popular.

Positive tippy tappy football though. GP did a cracking job at Brighton with unknown players. Brighton became a lot of fans second team because they loved to watch them play. Imagine what he could do with the young stars he will have at his disposal. All very positive in my opinion. I must've missed that south coast festival of sexy football. But I do remember a mid-table Prem team that didn't score many goals. Potter is a good manager but a better coach IMO. The problem with his Brighton team was they didn't have a striker which was good enough, they played really good football, got the best out of his players and was good enough to get a move to Chelsea. I'd be more than happy with him.

There has been some talk of Sarina Wiegman being a candidate for the manager of the men's team. I don't doubt her ability, but how well does she know the PL and its players? It's not the same as the WPL. I think we need a manager-English or otherwise-with current or recent knowledge of the PL.

Name the last English manager to win the PL. Name the last English manager to win the top prize in Europe. Now, a great club manager isn't necessarily a great national team manger. And vice versa. But if we want proven English managers, we're dipping our bucket in a pretty dry well. I'll admit this is outright theft from another County group today (so thanks to Gary 😉) but Lee Carsley has managed the u21s to European success without conceding a goal and presumably knows and understands the whole ethos and setup. Any thoughts on why we don't produce good managers?

There has to be a manager, male or female, who has the complete respect of the players. Not sure a female manager would have that - sadly more a reflection of dysfunctional masculinity than female competence. Possibly right. But I'm not sure I entirely agree. I think there's more cross-pollination these days. I'd like to think players would act 2024. rather than 1984. But I don't know what's in their hearts. It's irrelevant though as we all know it's not going to happen. Graham f*cking Potter though??? Jesus Christ. That said, the intense disappointment at losing in finals might quickly turn into a thing of the past under him so perhaps every cloud and all that... You're not too happy with Potter, Big Martin, but then you suggest Jesus Christ. That's a good call. After all, he did manage his 12 players very well, although that Judas was a bit of a rascal.

I hope it's Wiegman or Klopp just for a laugh. I'd consider both to be serious appointments. As an Anglo-German, happy for either Klopp or Tuchel to be manager. Or Wiegman, but see my previous comment on her lack of PL experience.

I wouldn't have an issue with giving either of them a go either, I just think the reaction would be entertaining.

He's done a good job every club he's been at bar Chelsea where he had some lunatics in the boardroom. Whereas Southgate did nothing before getting the England job, so don't understand that logic.

I think we need to elevate. Continue going up through the gears. I don't see a failed Chelsea manager, cum Brighton, Swansea and some Scandinavian backwater manager achieving that. But who knows. All about opinions. I guess, in part, I don't really understand why they'd let Southgate go to appoint Potter. I'd have preferred them to go all in on Southgate going forward. But then the loony England fans have basically sent him rushing for the white flag so that probably was/is a none starter.

Ha ha. Very good.
Nah, Andrew.
That's the importance of the use or not of the comma.
"We've got to eat, Grandma."
versus
"We've got to eat Grandma."
