Don’t think you can put it all on one game.
We’ve the poor start to the season where we were having a player sent off every other game while the team struggled to gel - a combination of underestimating the step up and integrating new players.
We’ve then this current run of boring home draws to close out the season - Doncaster, Gillingham and Hartlepool were all there for the taking, and we should have got something from at least one of Mansfield or Salford too.
It’s been a bit of a problem all season, Harrogate being one of the most miserable games of football I’ve ever seen (and I went to most of the conference north games), but our excellent away form meant we stayed up there.
Not majorly hopeful against Salford, but if we make it to Wembley, we’re going up.

Just out of interest... did many stay for the lap of honour?
I thought it was pointless, as we have another game to play, so left the ground as usual. I guess the emotions of the play offs means that it'll either be a pitch invasion, or everyone gutted and just goes home?

Great to see Glen Taylor on the pitch at half time, well done to the club for organising it. Also noticed Minihan and Hogan were at the game too.

I know reffing is diabolical most of the time but today Disallowed goal today goal was given and the assistant job is to return to his position not stand there in front of Hpool venom watching a replay Shocking But…. In Tranmere game ref missed the most obvious handball of the year Why can’t we get refs for the biggest games of the year who are grateful for the gig and keen to stick to the rules.

I love fun facts

League 2 going to be tasty next year : It will have the circus of Wrexham, plus either Notts County or Chesterfield, Forest Green, MK Dons and whoever else is left from playoffs etc. Plus reckon Gillingham will spend and be a force too. I think only Milton Keynes of the sides coming down will be major threats. Add in Wrexham, Gillingham and possibly Notts. Plus any of the playoff sides who aren’t promoted. I’m absolutely not having it that Wrexham will have it all their own way. It’s taken for granted that they will sail through, and while I’m sure they will be very competitive, it’s presumptuous and I think plenty of teams will have something to say about that. If - and it’s a big if - we are in this division next season, I expect us to be challenging for the title and at the very least top three. I don't think any of them will threaten us in league one.

We weren't aware of the lap of honour but wouldn't have stayed in any case, as we still have a home game to play. When the final whistle goes a week on Saturday, whatever the result, I will celebrate this group of players who have come so close to winning promotion from L2 at the first attempt. Last time we lost at home in the playoffs I was abused by some drunken twit who thought applauding was wrong in the circumstances but I believed there were players there that we wouldn't see in a County shirt again and they deserved recognition for the season we'd had.

I keep thinking back to the stevenage game where we were 1 up with minutes left and pressed the self destruct button. We would have been up today if it wasnt for that (and other results, but we really chucked that one away). Im feeling really f*cked off. That Stevenage result played very little part in our final position...we still had a further 44 games to play to rectify that one.
What stopped us getting an automatic spot was our inability to break down Harrogate, Bradford, Doncaster & Gillingham at EP, & sitting back & allowing Walsall & Mansfield to come at us, when in a winning position. A goal in any 2 of those games would have meant an additional 4 points & promotion.

I never said it did, if you read my post again I said it's the one that sticks in my mind the most where the points were in the bag. I'm quite aware a season doesn't hinge on one game.

He was no worse than what we regularly get. He went with the lino on the non goal incident because he had a side view of it and not behind the incident. At least we got a rarety, 2 penalty decisions in our favour that we did not take advantage of. Must admit the last two home games do not give me much confidence going into the PO. Two goals scored against the two relegated teams at EP in the last two games. If we do not get a good result at salford our lack of a cutting edge at EP might come back to haunt us.

Add yesterday to the list as well. 7 games with only 7 points collected. If we had won 4 out of them we could have lost the other 3 and have gone up. Totally sick of this unbeated thing for X number of games and one defeat out of 20 when there has been so many bore home draws amongst them. Its the points you have in the bag that matters and not just being unbeaten.

Have a feeling either accrington or morecambe will do a yeovil next season and drop right through to the NL.

Won't be Accrington, still got Coleman in charge after all these years and the chairman has his head screwed on straight.
Morecambe on the other hand are very much in trouble, still got dodgy owners (same people that sent Worcester rugby out of business) and have told all their out-of-contact players to leave. Even Cole Stockton, whom you'd imagine most L2 suffers would be after and is worth at least a token offer.
