With two massive games and a lot of travelling over a short period of time we're going to have to make good use of the squad. keep the same squad for Gillingham and change it up at Carlisle In theory yes. In practice, one or more players may have picked up knocks/be tired. DC and his team will know if anything needs to change. That is what they’re paid for. 😀 Barring that, I’d gonadotropin he same team.

It'll be a very difficult selection, Paddy was really good when he came on but Stretton's movement was equally good and I think made a big difference, we've started to find space in the final 3rd. Hope DC keeps it as it was v newport. We looked better than we have been and paddy looked a real super sub which is something we have been missing since crankshaw last season. Not every player can change things from the bench and its more than a co incidence that stretton has scored twice in his two starts after looking anonymous coming off the bench. Its also a coincidence that Hussey hasn't been in the team, giving Rydel more space to create the passes for Stretton

Beat Gillingham assess who come out of that game well enough to go again Tuesday against Carlisle and stick as close to that as possible, try keep as much continuity and momentum as possible we always have plenty of options to change it up and freshen throughout the game Would love to see a win Saturday, then Stretton bagging the winner against Carlisle would be poetic

Hussey as a player is decent but not for us or rydel himself.

I have wondered if part of Challinor's frustration with Rydel has been that he doesn't hold a higher position on the wing, and that Hussey is under instruction to occupy higher positions himself. With Byrne in the side he's probably expected to stay home more than Hussey would be, allowing more space for Rydel a bit deeper. Probably also helps that we're spending more time in a four with Wright marauding forward and Byrne and Horsfall dropping back.

Referee - Martin woods
Last game reffing us - 2-0 win at home to crewe on boxing day - he gave 1 yellow card
Last game reffing Gillingham - 0-0 draw at the start of the season - he gave 2 yellow cards and 1 red card

Rydel was a left back from an early age, so obviously has the defensive mindset, whereas Hippolyte was a winger & will have more of an attacking one. Would have thought DC would be more understanding with him being a defender all his career, that it takes time to adapt when your natural instinct is to stay in your own half

I think he does understand it, but is coaching him through games and is probably frustrated when instructions aren't followed. Similar to Jim if things haven't gone right he's more wound up in an interview right after a match than in the match preview interviews in the week.

He's played wing back or whatever position it's called these days since he joined us, he was leading assist provider last season so it's not as if he's only just been told to start getting forward.

It's not about him not getting forward, it's about which spaces he occupies in certain phases of play. Which results in Hussey moving into space he's in which doesn't happen when Hippo is at LWB.

I was really responding to Phil's point about him being defensive minded, he just don't think he is.

At least you know what he is trying to do and usually succeeds. With Hippo you haven,t a clue what he will do next and seems to go from hero to zero when he touches the ball twice.
