I get that Salford can be a stubborn and tricky opponent but we bossed them in the 0-2 last October. That day was like a home game and our superb support were immense. Same with Bradford and Carlisle, taken 4 points off both, nothing to fear Since the players last boarded the coach for Salford we have won 21 in all matches drawn 11 lost 5. We could not ask for more.

again for someone that doesn't understand please. Which is better You've just put me into the 21st century, and I've changed the way odds are shown on my betting account. Salford are 2.38 County are 1.53 Basically multiply your stake by that figure to work out winnings. Well if you did that you would overstate your winnings. Decimal odds include your stake money therefore you have to deduct 1.00 to get the correct winnings. So if you put £10 on County, you WIN £5.30 but get $15.30 back. Hope that is clear now!

Can't have it at OT -home advantage for Salford -would you really want to set foot in that place anyway? No way they're getting any money out of me (and they would either for hosting or the catering) Agree it doesn't make sense for this year's play off at Wembley but that's never going to change as Wembley has to be paid for. The fans don't matter in their eyes. You can see this from the venue changes, date changes in recent years. Fans are the last to be considered, we should just be grateful to be going there at all in their opinion. I think we've got to be bit more grown up than not wanting OT because Man U play there, haven't we? I despise the other lot even more and I'd be happy to play a final at the Sportwash Dome if it meant not going to London to play another northern club. Still, on the wider point, no, you can't change it for this season now and I agree that we're stuck with Wembley because the FA dug itself a financial hole for the wrong reasons years ago. But in an ideal world, of course you can plan games at short notice. FA Cup SFs used to be at neutral grounds every year. Cup games happen all the time anyway. Who knows who you're getting when the draw is made? You could reasonably easily have 5 or 6 grounds on 'standby' for play off finals at the start of the season. There are big enough grounds west and east of the Pennines, in the Midlands and in the SW to cover most eventualities. Not all, admittedly. And I think the Championship is generally a sell out, so Wembley makes sense, even if it's a game like Middlesbrough v Sunderland. But being stuck having to travel to a crap ground in North London in which your support is likely to be rattling around to some extent, is a shit way to play out arguably the biggest game of your season.

If there hadn't been a game taking place there this weekend, i wonder whether Neville & co would have considered moving the game to the AJ Bell ?

If anyone wants to try. Salford are selling tickets tomorrow straight away on general sale (Tuesday 9th) They will probably block anyone with a SK postcode or cancel them. And we on here do not condone anyone with family or friends with a M postcode buying tickets for County fans at all despite them giving us piss all tickets it would be at best scamp like behaviour.

United are at home to Fulham that day so it's a non starter anyway. To add insult to injury the final is an early kick off to accommodate Sky and the last day of the PL too. Yeah, to be clear I mean it’s a non-Wembley stadium that will always be big enough to hold the game, arranged in advance. But fixture clashes are another reason you can’t just wait til the finalists are known and pick the nearest large stadium. It does not need to be manchester based final. Surely there would be another ground available. It didn,t seem to be that long before the final that ashton gate was chosen for the NL play off final so why cannot this be done for league 2.

Good job we hadn,t got bradford then if allocations are based on postcodes. Mine is a BD one. Salford will sell out there home tickets with ease. Regulars and those who do the odd games will get one without the need of the day tripper club getting involved. Question is will they sell their allocations at EP if they are 2 or 3 goals behind.

The reason is the same reason FA Cup semis are also played at Wembley - money. The FA is still digging itself out of the hole that it got itself into over new Wembley. It has to maximise games there to pay off the crippling debt it landed itself with. We mugs/fans pay the price.

When teams play at Wembley, don't they have to pay money to play there?

I'd take Wembley though over Hillsborough / Villa Park, neither of which would be that much more convenient and don't come with the same appeal / fanfare as a trip to Wembley (with the additional option of making a weekend in London out of it). I take the point of rattling around in there, but I'm sure if we play Carlisle or Barford and it's 3/4 full then it will be a great occasion. Doubt it would feel a 'crap ground in North London' (like the Rochdale game maybe did, which I assume is where some the Wembley negativity comes from from).

Other than the result the last experience was pretty crap, daytrippers telling people off for singing, shhh I'm trying to watch 🤣 sit down etc, not joining in the songs, perhaps the der der der stuff will encourage them, we will have to get used to daytrippers it seems, perhaps some will fall in love and become life long supporters.

It all depends where you're starting from, of course, but if you're from up this neck of the woods and Hillsborough (or Elland Road) or Villa Park are no more convenient, I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. Wembley lost its mystique a long time ago. The towers have gone, the ground can't hold atmosphere, and I've seen games at what was the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff where it was magnitudes better in every regard (aside from the fact County weren't there). Wembley's a shit big ground and it needs saying. Also, we went to the old Wembley and were outnumbered significantly for 3 of the 4 occasions. That didn't help us enjoy the day at all.

Villa Park is possibly a reasonable option for a big game but I certainly wouldn’t see a game at Elland Road or Hillsborough in the same way.

More convenient obviously, but if I've got to make an effort to get to one of the above, I'd take the extra bit of travel and have an occasion at Wembley (not as negative on it as some). Assume if it wasn't at Wembley, there'd be as many grumblings along the lines of "X Pound a Ticket, etc, and we don't even get a trip to Wembley out of it".
