How would any of that have helped an injury last night? We had 5 defenders starting and Rydel on the bench - the only scenario Pye likely comes on is an injury to Hussey, which had it happened we could have brought Ryan on, moved Byrne to LCB (or Hyppo to LWB). Agree about putting ourselves first, so not criticising the club as such, but it's a massive call to take that opportunity away from somebody when we (potentially) didn't really need to do it.

Horsfall was on the floor, and four or five County players immediately surrounded the referee complaining furiously. Horsfall didn’t seem particularly affronted, he didn’t appeal at all. He just got up and walked back into position. Its not a clear foul for me. We’d be upset if Wootton had a goal chalked off for doing the same at the other end. But you can bet your bottom dollar if Wootton made a challenge like that it would be flagged as a foul. We've watched our big man all season being manhandled & getting absolutely nothing from the official's, their big lad wrestles Horsfall to the floor in a move that wouldn't of looked out of place in the UFC & it's given as a goal. Ridiculous.

We might be in more need of him next week (hopefully not) so sooner he’s back with the squad the better I guess.

Not having a single central defender on the bench would have been bordering on negligent.

Watched late last night after a night out. Was shocked when I saw the line up and just how short we have suddenly become. Stretton up front on his own sums it up. For me their goal was a clear foul which would be given 99 times out of 100 but it was an overall poor performance. I think that we have limped along since Christmas really, grinding out some results and only occasionally, mostly against the better sides, producing a performance. It seems to me that the season sub divides into three. First bit where we seemed overawed by the step up, then getting to grips with it and playing really well and the ending as if the success of the second third have exhausted us. Everyone is taking about this clear foul but I am not so sure as I think Horsfall was too concerned with Smith than attacking the ball. For me not one county player complained. Compare that to Hartlepool who managed to get that goal chalked off for a foul on the keeper. Either they all thought it was a fair challenge or (and this is more worrying) they couldn’t be bothered to argue with the referee. We don’t have that shithousery / dark arts side to us and that does sometimes cost us. Several players complained and I think you'd have been concerned if a six foot 7in bloke was forcing you to the floor, the ball would have been the last thing on your mind.

On the positive side, just head DC interview and looks like they rate him very highly and he'll be part of the squad next season. Then surely it would have been worth giving him 10 minutes at the end of the game and would have been more positive than keeping hussey on. Always get the impression nowadays that players are included on the bench just to make up the numbers with no intention whatsoever in using them. Hope that was not the case with Pye.

He was on the bench as cover for an injury, nothing more than that. It wasn't the sort of game where you could give him 10 minutes. We were down to the bare bones; hopefully we get two or three ready for next week and Pye can have his game at WEmbley.
