Well I'm off to see Miki Berenyi (Lush) tomorrow and just got tickets for Therapy? and Sleeper later in the year. Also got Wonderstuff later on as well. Hoping to discover some new stuff a Slam Dunk in a couple of weeks and 2000 Trees in the summer. Slow Crush (kinda shoegaze) and Marisa and the Moths (more standard indie/rock but cracking voice) we both a great find at Trees last year. That first paragraph has just sent me back to the common room at Ashton 6th Form between 1995 and 1997! The Damned and The Sisters of Mercy are the next gigs I’ve got lined up, which would take me back a good bit further

Eddie Izzard filling in for Axl Rose by the look of things? Said the same thing. Made it odd to watch.

Got back home a couple of hours a go and have to say being the crowd for the Elton set was pretty special. Thought his voice was good although I was fearing it would be like Blondie, who for the most part couldn't hear. Made a half arsed attempt to go and see Arctic Monkeys but gave up because of the crowds approaching the Pyramid Stage. Sounded like I didn't miss much according to the others in my group who went, and I'm not a huge fan anyway. As above Becky Hill was great, as was two hours of Craig Charles playing funky remixes of classics in the blazing sun. Saw a green 93/94 away County shirt being worn from afar which looked on point. I repped this years Argentina kit which got a fair few compliments, as well as someone shouting/singing "you're not shit anymore" at me - which I'll take. Was it a young woman wearing the County shirt?

Shameless plug for a friends band but I would listen and enjoy them in equal measure, regardless.
For fans of (in my opinion) the fall, yard act, Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
“There’s never been a good band from London” lovely stuff.

I did it differently this year and volunteered for Oxfam. Met my mate down there who took my tent and he had given a lift share to two lads from Manchester only to find a Carlisle flag wrapped round my tent as one of them a huge Carlisle fan. He was a decent bloke though and we had a lot of footy chat. Band highlights: Foo Fighters Wunderhorse CMAT The Big Moon Far From Saints Elton John

Most underrated band of modern times. Has to be James, for me. What say you lot?

Ist Ist are fantastic. Saw them supporting the Slow Readers Club a couple of weeks ago in Holmfirth. The drummer, Joel provides an amazing drive and energy to the band.

Have to say I'm not a big fan of festivals and I doubt I'll ever go to Glastonbury but Rick Astley and Blossoms covering The Smiths is about as close as I've got to regretting it.
Fantastic. And I fricking hate covers bands and tributes. But I'm making an exception there.

In terms of current local based bands I think Dutch Uncles deserve a lot more credit and exposure - I saw them at their free gig at MIF last week and it was great. We also have one of our own as well in their lineup!

Most underrated band of modern times. Has to be James, for me. What say you lot? Never liked them. Not a bad band by any means but my opinion of them is skewed by the memory of being in clubs that played 'sit down' & all the student feckers would sit down on the dance floor which was my cue to get another pint

I always thought it was second rate, lightweight bluff.. 😉 Sorry I didn’t ask How Was It For You but All I’m Saying is Sometimes they’re Getting Away With It, Waltzing Alomg Just Like Fred Astaire; it’s just Born Of Frustration, I have Nothing But Love but when are they going to Say Something, being a James fan is a Curse Curse being a James fan but anyway Moving On, there’s always Tomorrow
