Leam Richardson in shambles. Michael Appleton gutted. He may be the poor b*stard who has to go and manage Charlton now.

Spend much time in day to day contact with him at work? Questions marks at any other place are wholly irrelevant. Attempted put downs of this nature are par for the course on here; I know what I’m talking about, and thought you did too; my point stands - Jim was flawed in the way I suggested, as are most managers in their own ways. You said he was difficult to work with, I asked if you’d worked with him. That’s not a put down. It’s a question. Did you work with him? If not, how do you know he was difficult to work with?

I've heard some stories about Jim, I love the man but not only second hand stories but his track record at clubs like Port Vale etc. He's my favourite County manager but there's a reason a man of his knowledge and expertise is not managing anymore.

If true that begs the question: Why did he go for the interview? Just a power play? Trying to leverage something from County? Or genuinely a decision based on family/personal reasons (which is fair enough)? Either way it's going to be a bit awkward now. Why would it be awkward? He attended a job interview and decided he was better where he was. People do it all the time. Nothing awkward about it in the slightest. Presumably Charlton asked the club for permission and they said yes… so if I was Challinor I’d would have talked to them.. could have been the opportunity of a lifetime.. but presumably not. I guess we’ll know very shortly.

I heard years ago from a now explayer that he isn't very good at Man management. He once looked at me as though I was a piece of shit, when I said hello to him in the club shop when he was a player. On another occasion in a Stockport pub with his misses, he was ok and had some banter with a mate of mine who is a Stoke fan.

It’s all been done before though, it even got to the point some were saying he didn’t have any friends as a means of having a pop. Not sure why people can’t just appreciate how good he was for us as a manger without having to caveat it with some put down.

I know about Rooney. I wasn't saying he wasn't difficult. Just with Jim there's a lot of stories out there too. I wasn't speaking for the poster but it really isn't hard going to hear stories about him.

It’s not, but most are ‘he’s difficult’, ‘he’s a bad man manager’ without giving specific examples or backing it up with anything. Best we’ve had so far is he looked at someone a bit funny 25-30 years ago.

I know things aren't looking their best right now given it's only August but we've seen slow starts before and most of us are fed up with these slow starts and something must give in order for us to progress Jim's teams were notorious for slow starts too! The injuries are hampering us and signing big players 29 on 3 year deals is too. They're dropping off by the time they get to the end. There is likely to be a hangover from the playoffs too. With chally after us he'll be successful if we sack him at his next club. But he will turn this around it's just durge at the moment. I'd be surprised if we get automatics at this point though. He tends to take us on crazy runs where we blitz everything in our way, it will happen again.

I'd be interested in what he's said in private, but even in public he was pretty scathing e.g. after the Hartlepool game where Rooney got himself sent off for calling the linesman a c*nt. Here from 4:30-6:30: Just watched that whole interview back. Forget the Rooney incident, just listen to how he talks, his philosophy, how much he cares about the club, trying to give us an identity not just on the pitch but as a club, and as individuals. There’s not a word there you can disagree with, unless you’ve got some weird vendetta (👋 gibbo). It’s insightful, it’s honest, it’s from the heart and it’s everything that made us County. And we f*cked it off. We chose Rusk over that. We chose to throw it all away and put out some bullshit statement using culture against him. 1000 games, 30 years, unparalleled success as a player and manager. It was disgraceful then and it’s even worse now. Absolutely spot on. JG always recruited for attitude, approach and character as much as ability. And it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that he would have preferred to have Rooney nowhere near the Club. When his signing was announced I commented that with 10 clubs in 10 years, and also knowing a bit about his track record, he was never, in this world or the next, a JG signing. I'm also convinced that the interview at Hartlepool saw the die being cast. It was only the upcoming West Ham game that postponed what was the inevitable
