Jurassic Parky is looking a very dated manager. He's a dated manager that's got his team to 2nd in the Table in League 2 on the back of the National League Title last season and 2nd place the season before with a Wembley trip in the Trophy. Not bad for a "dated" manager. And may yet lead them back to back promotions and maybe titles. Quite ironic that this thread's taking the piss out of them losing in the 4th round to a Championship club, given our own exit from the FA Cup this season to a team in the division below us.

I imagine this will go down like a shit sandwich given the last few pages, and it's perhaps fueled by my dislike of the tribal element of football in general and/or I'm just emotionally stunted (I saw grown men at work crying when Klopp announced he was leaving, which was worrying), but I don't get this obsession with Wrexham.
Yes the whole Disney sideshow is not something I'd want at our club, and the football they play isn't that pleasing on the eye (clearly effective though!), but to be using a 4-1 defeat to a Championship side in a competition where we went out two rounds earlier (to a team a division below us) as a source of ridicule is bizarre. Same with all the "Are you Wrexham in disguise" and RR sex-offender crap that seems to be trotted out at most away games these days. The latter in particular isn't even "banter", it's just crass and reflects badly on the club and us as fans.
I'm an outlier in my views I expect, perhaps I'm just old and out of touch, but I'd rather people channelled their efforts into supporting County as opposed to ridiculing other clubs at every tiny opportunity that presents itself.

Agreed. There are some who have an obsession with them that's bordering on unhealthy. I'd rather have what we've got, but make no mistake, if Reynolds and McElhenney had bought us instead, those same people would be so far up their arses. Got nowt against Wrexham whatsoever. Proper club with proper fans who've more than done their time in non-league. Much rather be battling with them than the likes of Chorley and Fylde. Yes, they've got some cringeworthy fans, but so have we.

Which proves the point football isn't about metrics. For a one off game, yes; the result is the result. But metrics help with long term trends. Does that make Maidstone a better side than Ipswich? No. You probably play that game 99 more times and Maidstone don't win another. The one good thing to come out of that result is that the ipswich manager will still be in work this week. So many of these freek results see a manager getting the sack as if that club was going to win the final anyway. Good excuse for chairmen to get their guns out.

I'm happy for them re. their investment, but I could do without the media fellatio, and the obnoxiousness of some of the people associated with them (Tozer, our old friend, that melt who called up the ticket office to gloat when they knocked us out of the FA Trophy)

Totally agree. They're a rival for the title, that's about it. There's a bit more to it with them than Mansfield/Barrow because of the NL title race in 2022 but that's all. It'd be quite funny if they didn't go up, but that's because they were title favourites, not because they're Wrexham. The same way any favourites failing is funny.

The fact they boo our National Anthem, put a Welsh flag after nearly every post they put on media (just to remind us they're Welsh) always put Wrexham in capitals on most posts & have some nauseating players and a right moaning sour face as a manager, I come to the conclusion that although I agree I'd prefer them to a manufactured Forest Green/Salford etc, I just wish they'd run along and play in the Welsh Leagues, see how that would play out.

I do largely agree with you. I think they thoroughly deserved their promotion in NL regardless of the spend purely because they're a decent similar sized club to ourselves who spent many years down there plus it wasnt at our expense. There has been no real history with us and them apart from a recent promotion which we won the better of. That said it does sound like they carry a few bellends over there though, I recall their players giving ours a lot of shit after the FA Trophy match which a couple of our players commented on. I guess thats part of football but it did appear they seemed to take it that step further. I actually wanted them to win last night and let the Newcastle game take their distraction. Obviously didnt happen so it'll be business as usual for them. I would love to be already Champions at their ground though on 27th April and see them huffing and puffing for an automatic spot. Would be delightful.

The Americans at Ipswich seemed to have recreated something of the culture that applied during the Cobbold era. Instead of sacking McKenna, they've just signed a new striker (clearly needed since Hirst's long term injury). Reminds me of the story that Bobby Robson told in his first book. I was there as a teenager after a poor start to the season to witness a 3-1 home drubbing by Man U where the defence was all over the place (one of Bests last stand out games for them), and to my eternal shame chanted "Robson out" like the rest of the North Stand. The next day Robson was called into a board meeting and feared the worst. The chairman, the wonderfully eccentric John Cobbold (one bottle of champagne after winning a game, two if Town lost), proceeded to apologise to Robson for the "appalling behaviour of the fans last night" and give him £55k (loads of money in those days) to sign centre back Allan Hunter. Subsequently Ipswich finished in the top 6 of division 1 every season bar one in the next ten years (and the one they missed on they won the FA cup). As an aside - completely agree with Barmy Blue army - long term trend if you keep tossing a coin is 50:50 - but statistically you will eventually, if you carry on long enough, get 6 heads in a row somewhere in the sequence.

I’ve still no doubt they’ll be a League One side next year, and they’ll overtake us eventually, maybe even this season, but until they change their manager they won’t be anything special. What more do people want Parkinson to do? - see my reply to Emver (he actually couldn't really have been more successful than he has been at Wrexham). He's been very successful with them. I just think with the money they've spent they could play better football and have just as much success - and I don't think they'll continue to be successful playing the same way at a higher level. I could be wrong, but I don't see him adapting the way he plays as they go up the divisions in the way that Challinor has already shown he can do with us. - Edit to clarify: "won't be anything special" probably isn't what I mean. I more mean that play like they do now, in League One, and they will struggle.
