As a half-German, what a great appointment, I say. Soon the Wembley crowd will be singing "Herr we go, Herr we go, Herr we go!" How long before we see German flags being waved in the crowd. I'm very pleased with TT's appointment.

So the deal was done 2 days before Greece. I think gave Carsley too much stick. He must have known and it probably explains his experimental lineup (what did he have to lose?) and noncommital answers as to whether he wanted the job.
It's pretty shitty by the FA imo placing him in a difficult spot.

Ah ok, so you're ignoring his record as England manager. Fair enough. And you ignored the second half of my post… There is only 1 or 2 clubs in the premier league that would consider him. Possibly 3 if the tabloid talk of United being interested in him is true but that should tell you all you need to know. I didn't, I just didn't think it was a very good point. Find it strange that his record with England would be ignored in assessing him as a manager.

Tuchel doesn't start until January of which they wont manage until near the end of the season. Imo would have been good for him to start straight away in November

His brief as an interim was 3 international breaks, which they are citing as part of the reason Tuchel is starting later. I'm a bit surprised he's not starting ASAP but it's not a big deal imo.

Reminder we also lost to Iceland in June of this year… In a friendly. County lost to Oldham and Carlisle in pre-season friendlies this year. and thats the problem with todays football fans. They cannot take any defeats and when they happen the game is looked at in minute detail and players slated for various reasons down to not caring for the shirt.

And that they want Tuchel to have a fresh start (as they described it) with just the World Cup to focus on - which again is odd considering we might have to continue the Nations League in March. Would have been better to start now, but no big deal as you say.

Last English manager to win the top division is Howard Wilkinson. Last English manager to win Europe's top club competition was Joe Fagan. Was Redknapp the last English manager to win a domestic trophy? Portsmouth 2008? Getting on for 20 years ago now. That’s ludicrous. Before that, there’s only been a handful to have won anything since football was invented in 1992; Ron Atkinson, Joe Royle, Roy Evans, Brian Little, Steve McLaren (and Redknapp). And just seen that’s there’s only a similar number to have even managed in the Champions League, let alone get near winning it; Redknapp, Bobby Robson, Ray Harford, Howard Wilkinson, Phil Thompson (as a caretaker) and Eddie Howe. (The CL I’ve just lifted from an article from 2018, but can only think of Howe to add to the list since then. Sure some smart arse will find another). Mind blowing. No wonder we’ve gone for a GERMAN. Is it that english managers are not good enough or just following a new trend. Just like tactics. If one team is succesful in one department the rest will follow. Could not care less where the manager was born or came from as long as they can do the job and if DC left us today as long as we appoint the right man for the right reasons their birth certificate has no interest to me. Reading comments above from some with a voice in the MSM no wonder i,m not the only one who has lost interest in the international game. Just think of the uproar from them if he had been black or a muslim. Would show their true colours to the rest of the world.

Just think of the uproar from them if he had been black or a muslim. Would show their true colours to the rest of the world. Tuchel will be our third foreign manager. It's over 20 years since the first. This is not some big 'Wow!' moment. I'll give you two good reasons why our RW press are behaving like c***s now: 1) He's not just foreign, he's German and these utter wet wipes still think we're fighting a war that ended over eight decades ago; and 2) They are pathetic little xenophobes who sadly now feel free to spread their tiny-minded shite, because in recent years this country has been made a whole lot less tolerant, in no small part thanks to the (often foreign) owners of their newspapers and the crap they pump out. Needless to say, it's all depressing as f*ck. I see Tuchel met it all with good humour yesterday, proving himself to have a better understanding of British culture than the sorry likes of Jeff Powell. I don't envy him the job though. Those talentless hacks will seek to destroy him from before the first ball is kicked. These are the people this country needs fewer of.

Potter and Scott Parker can be added to the list. Parker is a tremendous shout. In fairness I'd seen a similar quiz question recently related to Englishmen to have managed a knock out game in the Champions League and think it was only 3 at the time (there was caveat to the question though IMO as they excluded: Bobby Robson who got Newcastle to the latter rounds but the format was x2 groups that year, Wilkinson who managed a knockout in the early years when it was knockout followed by groups).
