Thank you suedehead for clearing that up. That’s good then as Wrexham won’t be able to strengthen further with permanent signings after tomorrow, until the January Window Opens. I thought there wasn’t a deadline as such for us.

It’s because it’s classed as an international transfer, since Wales has its own FA, so is governed by FIFA transfer rules. Not saying it’s right but that’s how it is. Wonder if they could sign players from Swansea or Cardiff though 🤔

I am concerned at the moment about our squad strengthening. To me the last two signings have been panic buys.
We had a reasonable left sided CB in Jamie Stott a young lad who really wanted to play for this club, and was packed off to Fylde.
Richie Bennett was a reasonable number 9, just lacking confidence in front of goal and we have seen that restored at Hartlepool and now Sutton.
Quigley was brought in to replace him, but Richie was contracted for another year and should have stayed as cover. Now we bring in an unknown German striker who scoring record is poor for a striker, but there are conflicting reports that he is also a midfielder or a winger. I am willing to give the lad a chance, but still feel we are missing that player who has that spark to generate the power needed to win matches.
Sorry to be negative, but I am worried and concerned about our team building, am I right to be worried or am I just a weirdo, who cannot see that the team building is going well and there is no need for any concern. The matches I watch and the style we play are in my opinion worse than a year ago. Have we gone backwards since Jim left? Or is Rusk doing a good job and will get us promoted. I don’t think he will!!!

Heard something yesterday pre match on radio lancashire about league squads. They are limited to 26 players and anyone else cannot get a game but have still to be paid by their clubs. They cannot be loaned out to league clubs but can be to non league ones. Preston are one of these with surplus players as i,m sure others are. Would like to think wilson and his cast of 1,000,s know this and can bring in better bodies even on loan than we currently have.

Crankshaws signing really gives the squad some depth now. Still would like some cover for our strikers this week, especially as the Scunthorpe lad is injured and his loan ends next week. When everyone we will have a brilliant squad. Squad as at 28/9/21 1 Hinchliffe • Ross • [Schofield] 2 Minihan 3 Kitching • Rydel • Fryers 4 Hogan • Keane • [Earl] 5 Palmer • Fish • {Stott} 6 Barclay • Pye • Collar • {Maynard} 7 Southam-Hales • Crankshaw 8 Rooney • Croasdale • Raikhy 9 Madden • Quigley 10 Whitfield • Reid • Dünnwald-Turan 11 JenningsC • Walker • {Newby} • [Alli] Injured at present Fryers, Keane, Barclay Quigley, Dünnwald-Turan, Jennings with Schofield, Earl, Stott, Maynard, Newby and Alli all out on loan. Can anyone inform me who played in County’s team for the 3-0 defeat against Port Vale in a friendly this week. Also who was the trialist striker who played? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/port-vale-stockport-county-friendly-5983374

The following players are out of contract next summer!
Goalkeepers: Ben Hinchliffe. Josh Schofield.
Defenders: Ash Palmer. Liam Hogan. Ryan Rydel. Zeki Fryers. Jamie Stott. Lewis Earl.
Midfielders: Lois Maynard. Connor Jennings. Millenic Alli.
For me, I’d extend the contracts of Hinchliffe, Palmer and Rydel.
Stott, Jennings and Alli, I am undecided until I see them appear again in the first team.
Schofield, Hogan, Fryers, Earl and Maynard, can all move on to make way for new blood.
It will also be interesting to see who Dave Challinor’s first signing will be?

Not so, but looking at our squad. There is strength all over the park and whoever we retain in the summer it is really interesting to find out who leaves and who we bring in.

My assessment on squad moving forward, naturally some may be dependent on division we are in, you'd obv be hopeful that be league 2
Hinchliffe: Will be offered extension but long term may be looking for a new number one, no problem with him being our #1 regardless div in
Ashby-Hammond: Sam Byrne talks about looking for long term loan next season, obv made positive impression on us
Ross: Ludicrously given 3yr deal, not bad keeper but would expect him to move on or made available for transfer
MSH: Our most saleable asset and best player, will still be here
Minihan: Reckon be offered something, huge part to play in run in for us, may be at stage where he needs regular football though, if he's not going get that with us he may decide needs to move for good of his career, would want him to stay but whatever happens will always be with County fans best wishes
Hogan: Done very well for us on whole but think will probably leave and look for someone with better long term age profile
Palmer: Reckon be offered another year at least, really hope he signs, may not be automatic choice if in L2 given lack of pace but certainly wouldn't let us down and be games against physical players he will be perfect for, may become a defender who is a horse for a particular course rather than a mainstay but one we should definitely keep
Johnson: Slotted in really well and balances side out as left footer, will still be here
Kitching: not same player since injury, did well initially LCB start of this run, but pissed DC off with red card and subsequently fined, think DC run out of patience and he will move on, not bad backup if does stay though
ZFA: Chance to stake a claim and earn contract to be our utility defender, I'd imagine lined up replace Kitching in that regard
Rydel: Great age profile and become mainstay of side, will defo be here
Stott: Be released
Pye: Shown some promise, but will he ever progress at speed the club is doing, may get another year and season long loan somewhere as low risk finance wise, could easily be released though too
Barclay: be on a decent wage and be made available for transfer, on long contract though so maybe season long loan next season like Maynard, but also potential to come back into squad and stake a claim given his record at higher level
Croasdale: Another mainstay will defo be here
Collar: Emerged as one of our best players, will defo be here
Sarcevic: Fulcrum of the side, will defo be here
Cannon: Obvious pedigree on very good contract at Hull though, interesting see how much game time he gets with us, if he becomes a regular and shows his quality between now and end of season, will have to take wage cut as another year on his deal at Hull, but could be doable if long term security given such as 3yr deal should he impress
Hippolyte: deal expires end of season, done well and versatile member, may get another year offered, also one that could move on
Keane: personally like to keep for another year as solid and dependable in few positions and been great servant for us, but another in Minihan mould that may need regular games elsewhere
Whitfield: Had his injury problems but been very good when he's fit, got a very good 'County ethic' about him, would hope he is here and can stay fit, but potential to be a surprise who could move on too
Newby: Done ok especially in recent times, but someone expect move on for regular football
Crankshaw: Quality player, versatile attacking option, must keep
Maynard: Be released
Walker: Be released
Quigley: Not quite delivered recently as he looked like he might mid season, i'd expect him to be here next season and a full pre-season to get fully fit then could be big asset again, one that could fit into a surprise one to move though given recent lack of consistency, personally i rate him and given genuine competition for his place would bring best out in him
Madden: Beautiful bald Irishman, tremendous work ethic and quality, shows why had such long, successful career, great player
Jennings: Done really well at times since returning from illness, but at his age will need regular football and be much sought after, would be happy for him to stay, but expect will move on for regular playing time
Duffus: seem how he goes obv someone DC rates and alluded to being a potential perm deal if he impresses sufficiently
Reid: Needs to move on for sake of his career, but seems happy to sit around, will defo be available for transfer, shame given how he started his County career
Alli: Looks to have considerable potential, another in same category as Pye

Keane and Minihan are under contract to 2023.
I agree that it feels like a straight shoot out between ZFA and Kitching for that utility defender on the left slot for the rest of the season. ZFA out performs Kitching and I think we'll look to make it permanent.
I'd extend Hogan for a year based on recent performances. Seems a good influence to have around and back-up option to a pacier new RCB. Palmer of course is in.
Hippo too looks to be a good squad option if he's not on big wages.
Then you look for some big signings to strengthen us like a GK to challenge Ben (LAH?), RCB, Cannon (if performs)/midfield competition and a no.9 to challenge Quigley (potentially Duffus). Maybe a quicker, developing young LCB as cover/competition for Johnson.
I'd let CJ go. Move on Ross, Barclay if DC doesn't rate him and Reid. Question marks over Kitching and Newby so up to them to perform. Other loanees go except for youngsters who can develop.

No surprises in the retained list
Our Squad 18/05/22
GK Hinchliffe • Ross RB Minihan • Southam-Hales LB Kitching • Rydel CD Palmer • Barclay CD JohnsonR • Pye DMF Keane • Croasdale • JohnsonC RMF Whitfield • Crankshaw AMF Collar • Sarcevic CF Madden • Quigley AS Reid • Jennings LMF Newby • Hippolyte
Now to get some firepower upfront and a capable centre half.
Hopefully Hinchliffe, Palmer and Hippolyte will sign extended contracts.
Thankfully the two sending offs coupled with the Hogan and Palmer mistakes didn’t effect us in the end.
