Just seen hedgies report and looks like some work has been done on that building tagged onto the main stand near the CE(above the food kiosk) sure there's more windows there than previously. That’s Mark Stott’s new lounge so unavailable to anyone else on match days but can be booked in the week for smaller functions.

I do wonder whether sometimes club people will look at some of the comments and wonder why they bother - I guess I’d say, all we expect is: get it right, and get it right first time.

I know it's far from the most physical job in the world, but it'll involve bending over/kneeling down to fasten, say 4 nuts on 2000+ seats. If it takes a minute per seat to ensure all nuts are fully tightened, then there's a fair few hours work to be done this week... deffo a job for the apprentices, with promise of a bonus if they complete the job on time!! I do a lot of work of this sort in fringe theatres, it’s surprisingly gruelling and time consuming but it’s basic stuff to get right. It shouldn’t be open to the public with nuts missing they should have gone straight on with the seats. It’s pretty poor to be honest and I hope the club gets whoever they contracted to do the seat installs back to finish the job properly - and do proper checks that the work is completed. Hasn’t it all been done by staff and volunteers?

Some stuff they might not get right first time and you can forgive it. But basic stuff like making sure seats are bolted securely and are properly clean aren't in that group. Basic stuff like that you damn well should get right first time.

I don't think there have been many negative comments on here. There have been concerns about the seats being loose, but don't think anyone has slagged off the club about this, but simply hoped they sort it out before upto 6k turn up next week.

If it's been done by staff and volunteers, it's not the end of the world but whose overall responsibility is it to make sure they've done it properly? Simkin?
Not being melodramatic but it's a safety issue and given how many ambulance chasers there are, it wouldn't take much for someone whose kid traps a finger to get onto the club.

If your lad nearly took one apart, lord knows what will happen when a lurch like me sits on one. Might take out a whole row.

I agree 100% with you on that. I was simply highlighting that it does take a fair bit of manual hours to tighten up nuts on 2k+ seats.. let's hope it's all sorted for next week. do not know if this is the case but sounds like it being a rushed job and time ran out on the day. workers rushing off home and not telling anyone the job was not fully completed.

I guarantee there will loads of north western theatre and event workers for whom sticking nuts on bolts is second nature and would be grateful for the extra work after the last 18 months. This is a safety issue and shouldn’t really be done by volunteers. I’m massively in favour of volunteers doing stuff around the club, but not something like this.

Ideally you'd have the professionals doing the seat bolting and the volunteers following round, or later on, doing the seat cleaning. 🙂

It's probably been mentioned already but what's going on with the seat frames that we've used in the first couple of rows in the Cheadle End? As impressive as the stand looks with the new seats those first couple of rows really stood out in the interview with the manager, it spoils all the hard work and expense that's gone into it.
Are the frames further back powder coated and these at the front galvanised?

Are the frames further back powder coated and these at the front galvanised? I wonder if it's a weather issue? Those rows will always get rained on whereas depending on wind direction, the ones further back won't always? Seems a really odd thing to do without there being a practical reason for it.

That was my thought, they look like the same type used in the Railway End which presumably are more weatherproof.

Given how they did such a good job on the concourse, the lounges and the exterior, much needed refresh/modernising of a tired old stand. It's absolute bonkers that they seem to have made a right mess of the most important part. If it was done by volunteers then it very much shows. Somehow managed to make it look worse.
