The Joma blue was naff for years. I can only really remember us drifting to that shade of blue during Joma since the Diadora kit.
Looked like the kit-man had washed them a few too many times.

Bloody hell, I know the Joma kits have been lighter but you compare that to those others you realise how light it is! The diadora is the most recent home shirt I have until the Champions shirt so I don't know when we drifted to such a light shade but yeah, it's quite the change. It's even clearer in real life as well. The Patrick is a very different blue in a way that isn't clear in the photos at all. It's much more navy than County blue. I do wonder if part of the problem is that according to the font of all knowledge (wikipedia) there are three different shades of blue called Royal Blue. There's the "traditional" and "pantone" royal blues which are dark blues that lie somewhere between the Patrick and the Diadora and then a lighter shade that was selected as the "web color" for Royal Blue. Which isn't quite as light as the Joma but is lighter than the Diadora and TFG. The TFG shirts, while all dire except the 06/07 one, were the right shade of blue. Diadora for two seasons was too. Macron in 09/10 was there or thereabouts. We went lighter with the Nike Stockport Council shirt in 10/11 and then the striped effort in our first season of the Conference, they were both very light. The all blue Nike we went down in was close to proper County blue, as was the Umbro in 13/14, but other than that they’ve all been Joma catalogue blue since then. So basically once we went down the catalogue route (Nike in 2010/11), we’ve had the wrong shade of blue, but not surprising. Macron was a catalogue job too I suspect, there’s other teams with that template, but that was close to the right colour.

1996/97 blue for me! The cladding is pretty close to that.

It wasn’t quite spot on, but the closest we could find to ‘County’ blue isn’t actually a shade of Royal Blue, but Chelsea Blue.

I'd love to return to that slightly darker shade of blue, such as the 01/02 home shirt, instead of the lighter shade we've used in recent years I don't think we need to go quite that dark but I would like us to go darker. Late TFG/Diadora shade is about right for me. Unfortunately I couldn't get my phone camera to do justice to the difference in shade between the Patrick and the others here but you can really see how light our recent kits have been next to these earlier ones. Didn’t realise how big the difference is between then and now. Was the GT Law blue and white striped kit the first with the lighter shade of blue?

If we end up in a darker blue and stripes ala 98/99 then that’ll be the cherry on top by my book. remember that blue does fade so the darker you set out with the longer it lasts before any hint of light blue is shown to get repainted back to proper blue.

Looks like big heaps of earth up against the concrete fence at the Railway end. Are the bowling green and bungalow club still there? Or is that all something to do with the housing development?
