Looks like big heaps of earth up against the concrete fence at the Railway end. Are the bowling green and bungalow club still there? Or is that all something to do with the housing development? I think that's railway land.

Think there was always an embankment there and they have cleared all the vegetation??

Think there was always an embankment there and they have cleared all the vegetation?? Back in the 2000s when I planned the trains in stockport and the north Manchester south signal box was between the railway end and the line to alty. It controlled the vast majority of trains on the west coast south of stockport. I would imagine it's still there.

Aye but the railway land didn't go right up to the back of EP, that's the old council depot land we're talking about.

Think there was always an embankment there and they have cleared all the vegetation?? This is a modern picture. The yellow bit is County land IIRC. The rest isn't. The club stated new bigger stands were happening, so we must be purchasing the old bungalow site for this to happen, clear activity going on there as you see on that pic. The green/vegetation up against the fence has been cleared. With that land we can build a stand similar size to the CE. Without it we've severely limited in doing much. Someone posted the Booth St Stockport Homes plans a while back and its the red bit on here, originally it also contained the blue section and the plans showed there were to be several storey flats in the corner. That was then revised and amended and removed. Our owners are in this game, convinced the changes will be down to them and they'll have the Bungalow land sewn up, otherwise it wouldn't seem worth while. And there's loads of space to redevelop the Pop Side.

I can't wait to see the plans for the Railway End and Pop Side. A continuous stand that is joined up in the corners and into the Cheadle End gets me excited.
From what I've seen so far I think they'll get it right when it comes to the design rather than knocking up a half arsed effort.

Same, I get a bit giddy as we've been starved of this for so many years. It's long overdue.

I think it's worth noting the amount of clout Stott's Vita Group/Select Property actually have compared to any owner in similar leagues to us (and I include the football league in that comparison). We're talking about a geezer who recently sold an arm of his business for £500m when he owned the sole controlling stake in shares.
I will eat in my hat if Stott serves up some boring meccano redevelopment when he works with some of the best architects in the country on a daily basis with his businesses. If it's true that he wants to take this opportunity to exploit cheap land value in Edgeley whilst in proximity to Stockport station, particularly with HS2 coming (slowly!), its a no brainer to do it properly. If done right the development opportunity will pay for his investment in the football club and beyond.

And there's loads of space to redevelop the Pop Side. Dumbass question time. The lower pic makes it look like there’d be loads of space we could expand EP into - even move the pitch towards the pop side to build a bigger main stand - if it wasn’t for that bloody reservoir boxing in the Cheadle end. SO: is it ever possible to buy the land currently occupied by that near end of the reservoir to fill it in and build on it??

Looks like the old bowling green is now being used as a storage depot Yes... I seem to remember discovering that a small bit of land behind the bowling green pavilion was a builder's yard, or something similar. Maybe he's expanded onto where the actual green was? Hope it's not to be another stumbling-block...
I'm very encouraged by these pics, but I'll only really believe it's happening when the bowling green and the bungalow are finally cleared. There'd then be plenty space to start the build with an upper tier behind the current Railway end (thus avoiding reducing the current capacity while doing so)... which could then in due course be demolished and rebuilt a bit further away from the pitch... which could maybe also be shifted eastward a couple of yards to give a better view at both ends.
As for the Pop side, you could do something similar, in order to widen the pitch slightly and improve the views. And with a second tier built above and behind the present one, the footprint (including the present concourse) is surely large enough for a decent-capacity stand.
It'd require an organised sequence of manoeuvres, but all very do-able. County are getting one shot at all this, and I hope they get it right. I think they will!
