i doubt there is a single fan that does not want some kind of development or upgrade to EP. we all have our own wish list regarding both. not fussed whatever the owners decide on what and when work starts as long as it does. as long as there,s no pie in the sky reynolds arena type development then i,d go for anything.

Edinburghhatter wrote Personally, I've no idea what is planned or currently being carried out, if anything. But it would surely be a good thing if the club could publicise any plans (which various folk, at the time of the takeover, claimed to have seen, and to have been very impressed by). So: how about sharing the plans, and showing regular illustrated updates of any progress made? I appreciate plans may change as things develop... but to me, no info suggests no progress... or a PR operation which is not yet up to speed on the subject. As I've said before, any expansion of the ground, particularly at the Railway end, would surely involve some land purchase/exchange. (The Bungalow, the bowling club, and a bit of the land apparently reserved for Stockport Homes). Hard to see any possibility of expansion beyond the current footprint without this happening. I'd also suggest that any expansion or rebuild should include some proper safe standing areas, including in areas designated for away fans. It's happening already on a very large scale at other clubs (recently at Wolves and Spurs, for example) so why not at EP? To summarise: we need more info, on both plans and progress. Now! Well the owners own EP not the supporters and they will do what they want and will tell us as and when they choose to. They are under no obligation to involve us at all and we can demand nothing. We can ask nicely, beg, suggest etc but thats all and if they want to ignore us there is nothing to stop them. As for standing areas well IMO thats a 100% no go whatever given the new norm of social distancing, which could be with us for generations. Social distancing won’t be here for generations. It’s in place to combat the spread of this virus, so it’s here until the virus is gone, not forever. Social distancing isn’t a new thing. It’s been used in other viral outbreaks in the last hundred or so years. It’s not going to be a permanent fixture. Not only that but there would be no difference between a safe standing rail area and conventional seating in terms of distance between supporters. So if safe standing isn’t suitable then neither is conventional seating.

Is there a point that we accept that, like other viruses, we're probably going to lose 10,000 - 20,000 people per year to it on this country, and just get on with things?

I admire your optimism Stranded Hatter about social distancing but nobody knows for sure do they? Harvard Uni have stated that the virus is here to stay, recurring intermittently as the seasons come and go much like influenza and this could mean some form of social distancing will need to exist for many months, if not years.. I really hope the vaccine works next year and the virus dosent mutate in the mean time or that we get a new rise in the curve later this year. and have to go into lock down again.. Conventional seating is simple to manage. .All they need to do is block off two seats between each person, impossible with standing areas. Football as we knew it can never be the same again not least the repercusions from financial issues for most clubs. It will be interesting to see how the hospitality industry comes back from whats happened plus given the worst recession allegedly in the last 300 year thats been predicted and the massive numbers of job losses that are happening this will have an effect on going to footy, If families are on universal credit they wont have money for footy.thats for sure. Bleak times for us all unfortunately.

As others have said, fan consultation is key as we are the ones using the facilities, but it looks like the refurb will be done without that. Disappointing, but I won't lose sleep over it. CE desperately needs a tidy up, the DB Stand and Vernon are sufficient for the time being, although some extra catering facilities would probably be welcome. The Railway End is a disaster, I'd start again with a view to re-opening it when/if crowds start increasing, goes without saying a roof would be the least we should expect. Also, depending on the land behind, we should be looking to make use of that (I saw it mentioned elsewhere that a proportion of it, directly behind and towards the end of the Vernon Stand has been taken off the Stockport Homes plans, so who knows what'll happen to that now). As far as capacity is concerned, I highly doubt there will be any huge increases until we're much higher up, I'd suggest none until we're in League One (IF that happens, of course).

Couldnt agree with you more davelong79 but we arent the owners, we have no say unless the owners ask our opinions and even then they dont have to consider them do they?

Bleak times for us all unfortunately. It’s not optimism. I fully anticipate social distancing being in place well into next year. But not generations. Dealing with viruses like this is nothing new in human history. It will either be eradicated or brought within manageable levels within the next year or two. It won’t take 60+ years.

I really really do hope you are right Stranded Hatter but nobody knows for sure. Covid 19 is unique its all guesswork about what happens now. And they still havent been able to prevent the common cold or cancer or motor nurone disease etc have they? The world has changed because of whats happening worldwide but we do know the financial crisis its causing and even if its brought under control as a disease we are in the worst recession in 300 years with all the tragedy that brings

It’s not unique. It’s a highly contagious virus with an uncomfortably high fatality rate. It’s not the first and it won’t be the last.
It is bad. People who downplayed it’s threat helped to facilitate its spread, but it really isn’t unique.

And there are ways of dealing with the incoming recession that minimises harm to ordinary people. We’ll see them in countries that have imaginative, forward looking and people centred leadership. We won’t here in the UK though.
