thats about the number i would go for plus still having the council owning EP. mark stott may be around for the long haul but will eventually leave like all owners. much happier with the ground divorced from the club if we ever ended up with a rogue owner in the future. No one's going to pay serious money - millions if we're talking new stands - to refurbish a ground they don't own. Or until the full effect of a covid on all their businesses has been seen I wouldn't have thought

If a ground refurbishment opens up doors on investment in other places in and around the town (we’ve heard about him investing in not just the club but Edgeley as a whole) then the council retaining ownership of the ground in return for other things means everyone is a winner.

Not at first glance County-related, but these 2 documents are nevertheless very interesting, and well worth a read, especially the first one.
Stockport is going to change in a very big way over the next 10-20 years, and EP is right on the edge of the area under discussion here.
This is the Council's newest vision for the station area:
And this is the infrastructure delivery plan:
Property developers will be very welcome....!

Some very exciting plans!
Interestingly on the timetable on the first doc in the 0-3 years bracket it says Stockport County redevelopment...

Stockport is going to look very swanky in 10 years time.
I'm sure Edgeley Park will fit right in too. Can't wait.

Which suggests to me, at least, that the question of who actually owns EP and the adjacent areas may not be any sort of barrier to things getting off the ground. I still think some sort of shared ownership deal may be on the cards... or at least the Council positively appreciating the value of EP (and of course County) as a real asset to the town, rather than a financial liability. Which all started, I think, when the Council bought EP just a few years ago...

I'm sure I heard back in January that Stott will become owner of the ground (or rather Stockport County will, which is Stott) in 2-3 years, he's effectively got to put his money where his mouth is first which is what he seems to be doing now. Once he's done that, the ground will be owned by County again.
I'm convinced that is the plan. I'd be amazed if we don't own Edgeley Park again by the end of 2023.

Pretty fair deal for the council to benefit from regeneration from Stott's company and in exchange giving the club (fingers crossed rather than Stott himself) the stadium for free.

It’s been a couple of days since a cladding picture was posted. How’s it looking?
I’d be interested to know what developments are planned in the 0-3 year period on the document above. I think with the CE being gutted and modernised internally it would have to be the Popside or Railway End up first.

We're not, in strict terms, though the stuff being done if it goes to plan will extend as far as the Greek St roundabout, so within a wind-assisted goal kick of EP... I think it's more about the inevitable knock-on effect on local areas on the fringe, such as Castle St. County's own development plans will have their own (albeit much smaller) side effects too. Hopefully positive ones!

Then it’s pretty much a new stand.
