I drove past earlier and the advertising boards that ran across the top of the Cheadle End have all been removed now, I can't remember ever seeing it like that going back to when it was built as it had Robbies signage up there early on.
I'd imagine they'll be replaced with VITA boards but I quite like the look of the bare metalwork as it was tonight.

I’m going down to EP in the morning so will try and take loads of photos and get them on here. Was there on Monday and the cladding was probably 3/4 done across the back of the Cheadle End and far exit steps, but hadn’t started on the Hardcastle Road side.

It was too dark to see the cladding, especially with it now being a dark shade of blue, it made the car park very dark. The Cheadle End would look good if they paint the steelwork and leave it as a feature, the advertising definitely takes something away from it aesthetically.
As a fellow geek I look forward to seeing plenty of photos.

Fairly low quality ones as had to upload via Facebook as usual image hosting site is down, can do more detailed ones later. But you can see new seats almost completed in the Railway End, removal of stand banners on the Popside, looks like they’re putting a new one on the Main Stand, cladding completed on the back of the Cheadle End and at the top facing the pitch, and the old big sponsor boards at the top of the CE removed too. All of this is visible from the street, I didn’t sneak in or anything. [ Apologies for the low res photos, will repost more detailed quality ones later.

Thanks for posting those Suedehead, it's great that the owners have pressed on with stage one of the refurb but those pictures really do emphasise how dated EP has become with no improvements over 20 years+. The pop side roof looks particularly knackered and hopefully any replacement is not a typical boring 'meccano' type stand.
On a related note, not sure if I've missed it but I'm sure we were promised some official pictures of the refurb dressing room and Carrington? I think they said it would be a couple of weeks away about a month ago so hopefully imminent?

I imagine they'll be putting up banners like the ones that were in the Corporate brochure

Even though it needs replacing, isn’t it nice to see the Pop Side roof without that banner on it?

The cladding on the side of the cheadle will also get done surely? I'm sure it will but it won't be a simple cherrypicker job like the rear was, 'cos of the stair section
