These things take time, and we've had a change of government who are drastically reform the planning laws so its not a surprise things take some time. This is true. Although one thing in our favour is that the interest rates are at least dropping and inflation has slowed down. Hopefully we hear something soon, we need the ground to happen more than we need to actually get promoted to the championship imo. We woild be throwing money away going up to the champo with EP being as it is.

I wonder if those people are treated with the same contempt as those who bought season tickets for their kids who don't attend every game were? I think there is a difference between those that don't attend every game and the rumour(?) that some were buying free child tickets as a way to get more leg room/space (sure I've not made that up?). There was that, but the freebies were back in the NL days when we never got close to filling the place (expect in the final three months of 21/22). Since then, they've been £25. There was some complaining on here that it was unfair for people to buy them for their kids if they kids don't go all/most of the games. Which is something I disagreed with. I understand the argument when we're selling out, but without buying a ST for my 4 year old, he can't ever sit with me and therefore can't come to games (unless I relocate to a wet Railway End, which I'm not doing). He's been to four home games and one away so far this season, I bet that's more than some ST holders on here and some old boys in the Main Stand. There was even talk of the club monitoring the number of games attending by kids (but not OAPs or other discounted tickets) and penalising/forcing them to pay a higher price at renewal time. Which I fundamentally and utterly disagree with.

Would be great if we can start work on the Railway End ASAP.

As an aside (but a relevant one), I won't be taking my kids to the Wrexham game so I called the ticket office to upgrade their tickets so my brother and his girlfriend can go instead. I was asked a question along the lines of "just out of interest, how much do they go? It's just the club are thinking of putting a limit on how many times you can upgrade in a season." I pushed for further info but that's all I got! To me it sounds like turning away good money from the club's perspective. Where's the advantage to leaving the seat empty?

Yeah. We’re miles behind and desperate for new big stands. Very frustrating! Wonder if the club are having second thoughts about the full project and will we see it happening. Doubt it, coz they'd be mad to, and I don't think they're mad. As I said in the Wrexham thread, attendances are remarkable at the moment, and if we do get back to the Championship, we'd be selling twice the number of tickets we did last time we were there.

I'm sure someone pinned it down as Woodford? Can't remember if it was on this thread or not. The land behind the Pointing Dog in Cheadle Hulme apparently. I like to call that pub the Shitting Dog, because it makes me laugh. Yeah, so anyway, just so the posting isn't completely pointless, that abuts the old MOD site, which closed just over a year ago, and which I believe has plans for a virtual town to be built on it and the land nearby. Dunno whether any training ground development would be done as part of the same development (it's the other side of the bypass for one thing), but that entire area around Handforth Dean/Total Fitness is going to change dramatically in the near future. If you look on Google Maps, the undeveloped land behind the pub and alongside the park looks more than enough room for a training complex. It seems half as big again as the rugby club, and that's got 2 cricket pitches and 2 rugby pitches as well as a large clubhouse.

As in the size of the development. Rather than it being some sort of VR Oculus Headset wonderland.

Agree. A return to the championship with the railway end in it's current state & offering away allocations of 850 would be a bit embarrassing IMO. Absolutely no harm at all in hanging around in league 1 for a period of time whilst the ground is upgraded & also for the policy of buying young talent to potentially move on for substantial profit also bears fruit.

I'd quite enjoy it. I'd rather give Leeds 850 than 2500. Make it a horrible place to come for away fans and players. Let them squeeze into changing rooms that Curzon Ashton and Leamington were sat in less than ten years ago. I still think we're more than capable of a top 6 finish this season and will be a little bit disappointed if we don't finish up there, which I'm sure the hard of thinking will consider spoilt and entitled. And if we don't finish top 6, I'm sure we'll throw another sack load of money and resources at it in the summer to make sure we do next year. We've got two seasons after this to achieve Stott's goal. I don't for a second think anybody at the club is even considering not meeting it. I'm wholly confident we'll be a Championship club in 2027, probably before.

The railway end won't be in its current state - the club have already confirmed it will be closed for the whole of next season, thus bringing our capacity down to around 9,500. If away fans still get 850 in the reduced capacity EP they should consider themselves lucky!

Regardless of who it is, it's not ideal having Season Ticket holders that don't attend (and more to the point plan to attend) a reasonable portion of games IMO. Empty seats never looks good, impact on atmosphere, restricting other fans, etc, so a bit more to it than the "I've paid my money will do what I want" argument (again IMO).Appreciate reasons why it's happening at County currently, but something the club should look to address in the longer term (a decent ticketing system probably the first step).

I agree, ideally there wouldn't be any empty seats in the ground. And agree that a functioning ticket platform that can handle resales would be tremendous. But, as it stands now, I get why we do have empty seats that belong to season ticket holders. And I would hate for us to go down the route of the club checking up on attendances and almost enforce attendance under the threat of losing your ticket or being penalised in some other way. Other clubs do that. And, tbh, it sounds really shite.

Capacity isn't number of seats available once you consider segregation, closed off areas of the ground etc. And then of the 10% of the total number of seats available, the away club will cream off some for corporates, families, hangers on etc.
