Fallowfield and I think your comment is spot on and well worth being used again, mind if I nobble it for my sign off??
Because it's iconic.
It's our heritage.
It's County

Its 2020 not 1883 and seeing is most things are changing at County and everyone is loving it so why not as Henry Pratt says he prefers and turn the pitch 90 degrees? We could then demolish the main stand completely and just have a basic single tiered terrace as we have in the Pop side now but also keep whats left of the Pop Side, theres nothing there of consequence and it could act as emergency overflow for away fans if needed. We could then put an extra tier on the Cheadle End with exec boxes and better food and bar facilities for all . Just leave the away fans in the Railway as it is. We cant live in the past anymore radical changes are needed given after the pandemic slowly finishes.County have to evolve to stay strong and exist . Forget the old bring in the new our history should start again now. How would you add another tier to the Cheadle end ? Desmond Its apparently not that unusual .I found this reference www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11926056/west-hams-london-stadium-to-receive-two-new-tiers-of-seating

I have no strong opinions on keeping the old just for the sake of it but I appreciate manypeople including yourself enjoy nostalgia and value the memories and obviously if there were changes you dont have get rid of things just because you can.The main stand facade does certainly evoke a lot of happy memories whereas the bricks mortar aabestos roof and Everest double glazing well thats probably a different story

For me, this thread shows the importance of ground development to fans. The sooner we see some plans, the better. Imagine if they appear and some of the stuff we've talked about on here is in them...

That article refers to introducing new lower tiers rather than putting new tiers on top, eliminating the running track and bringing fans closer to the pitch. Same thing that happened at the City of Manchester Stadium after the Commonwealth Games and before City moved in. I don’t think the Cheadle End was built in a way that we could add anything to it, it’s not a particularly well built stand (it was the architects first stand and we were very much a guinea pig) and I don't think we need to expand it until we’ve outgrown new Popside and Railway End stands.

The Moan Stand facade has to stay. The 'Stockport County AFC' is iconic and I would be really disappointed if that wasn't incorporated into any new Main Stand.

New roof yes, but the expansion capacity of the Railway End and Popside means a new Main Stand is way down the list of priorities. Valley Parade is an example of a ground which works lopsided due to the footprint of the ground not allowing for expansion in certain directions, and Bratfud haven’t been held back.

There's loads of space either end of the Moan Stand, if it ran to the corner flags it would probably double in capacity.

The Main Stand facade is non negotiable for me, it's iconic and screams Edgeley Park. Look at what Rangers did with their facade at Ibrox for an example of modernising the interior while keeping the historic look. Also look at Craven Cottage for how to modernise a ground without destroying its character. Keeping the Main Stan front is integral for keeping Edgeley Park as Edgeley Park while dragging it into the 21st Century. Yes they kept it in keeping but we replaced all windows and doors with white PVC. It looks crap! It needs renovating and incorporating Just that strip of brickwork. The rest of it is turd

I'm with Fallowfield and Stranded.
Knock down the Cheadle End, Bulldoze the Popside, Sack off the Railway End, Gut out the interior of the Main Stand.
But the Main Stand facade must stay.
It's iconic, it's historic, it's unique. It's just "County".
Have it as part of an extended Main Stand, Have it as an end stand with a rotated pitch, Have it as the entrance to a Club Shoo.
But it MUST be kept.
We can have all the fantastic modern facilities and design elsewhere in the ground. I'd love all that, and we need it. But we don't have to completely destroy our history for.
Keep the Main Stand facade.

Extending the Main Stand the full length of the pitch and redeveloping both the Railway End and Pop Side would more than take our capacity above what we need.

We've also got to avoid ruining the atmosphere, Port Vale get decent crowds but it always looks terrible on TV, the place looks empty.
