I see Poole’s Finest have succeeded in providing the papers with something else to put on their front pages today. Not quite on the scale of Gen Galtieri’s contribution to Mrs Thatcher’s political career, but I don’t doubt Boris and Dominic are grateful for the distraction...

It takes a new level of idiocy to put one foot in a bear trap (well played, Labour - absolute blinder) then repeatedly stamp on the trap with your other foot. The hubris is absolutely astonishing

its childrens bellies we should be thinking about and not bad parents. they have no power over their parents actions, however some politicians just cannot get their heads around this.

Good to see that TW. The reason Labour lost the last election wasn't people voting Tory, it was their own voters not coming out and voting. Labour's vote was 2 million down on 2017 and it was mainly due to the Jeremy Corbyn effect.
I've only voted Labour twice, once in 1997 like yourself and also last year. Not for any love for the party, but as the only option to stop the Tories, due to the corrupt First Past the Post system. Sadly we lost an excellent Labour MP (Ruth George) in the High Peak by just 500 votes. We've now got a smarmy arrogant Tory, who voted against Labours proposal for free school meals. He also started his address to defend his vote by saying "No doubt the usual suspects will tear into this....". What a scumbag, we are his constituents, not the "usual suspects", but he treats us with contempt.
This is how close some constituencies are, so every vote is critical!

is your new tory mp a local bloke or someone who needed google maps on his first visit to the area. in the past there have been local people selected for the 3 main parties who have been elected due to this. i remember when we moved to yorkshire our mp was a local liberal one who held the office for years and tears. once he retired the liberals just manage a poor 3rd place. something for labour to look into and forget box ticking female only candidate stuff that i,m sure has harmed them in the past.

He'd need google maps! His name is Robert Largen and he was a councillor in Fulham, although he claims to have grown up in Manchester. Either way, he is not local to the High Peak, unlike Ruth George who lives in Whaley Bridge. She is now a councillor for Whaley Bridge and is looking to stand again for parliament in 4 years time.
Robert loves being photographed in local pubs holding a pint, but a few have told him directly he's not welcome via social media!

we all know someone else like that who likes his pint in hand. may then rush home to open another expensive vintage wine to get rid of the taste of working class drink out of his mouth. men of the people they are not. i,d have more respect for em if they did not try to be.

Yes, exactly. Corbyn walked straight into one after another. Kier Starmer seems much more savvy and it's clear he is doing a lot of work to reposition the Labour Party and make it much harder for the right wing press to constantly smear his party.

That's both shocking and criminal. Like I've said before the Tory's know they won't win the next election so they are all feathering their nests and emptying the Country's coffers at the same time. Who in their right mind would want to follow this shit fest into Government? If Labour take it on they are on a hiding to nothing. And would they have the expertise and mind-set to cut back or raise taxes the necessary amount?

Like I've said before the Tory's know they won't win the next election not too sure about that. if they by accident got on top of the virus and things get back to normal in the next 6 months then they would play on that and many will class boris as our saviour. even now their popularity is higher than you would have thought.
