All
As there's no football to discuss and it might be a while before there is.
I thought it would be interesting to discuss about a new stadium.
Are there any circumstances that you would be happy with moving grounds? I think a well built new stadium or redeveloped stadium can take us to the next level. Look at reading at elm park and after. Huddersfield's gates went up, although I think the current saturation m stadium deal will be problematic for them now hoyle has gone. Breaks my heart (NOT!). Rotherham and donny are success stories.
Cov city and darlo got it wrong and paid the penalty. Can you think of any others? I don't mind moving grounds as long as it's 15 mins walk from stockport station. Other than that I do mind, would hate to be on a industrial estate miles away from anywhere.
Thoughts?

EITHER: (1) Find a suitably-sized piece of land that's sitting there empty, just begging to have a football ground built on it, and which has the all location advantages EP has. (2) Overcome the objections of anyone living within at least half a mile of said site. (3) Offer the club/Council at least £25 million to cover the costs of construction of a basic stadium of at least the same capacity as EP. (4) Sell EP for development to fund all this, even though County don't actually own it....
OR: Redevelop EP stand by stand, on a piecemeal basis, including modest expansion where possible. I know which I'd take!

And there are a lot of clubs who have stayed still, but lost a piece of their heritage and identity. I'd be open to moving from EP, but only if a new stadium would be better in every sense. As has been said above, you're not going to find a location better than EP anywhere. It's one of the most ideally-placed football stadiums in the country. And could you build something which has the same sense of identity and character? Or would it just look like another dreary new build? EP is part of our soul; if you think about it in a big sense, it's the physical embodiment of the club itself. It would take something genuinely amazing to get me to support losing it.

I think the plans are already in place to redevelop EP. Cheadle End refurb, which is already underway.Corporate areas mainly I think. Railway End new stand, which I think will happen when we rejoin the league. Pop side new stand when we make League 1 maybe. We were promised more detail some time ago but this virus may have put some plans on hold. Im still optimistic EP will be our home for some time to come.

Other than that I do mind, would hate to be on a industrial estate miles away from anywhere. Thoughts? I have said this many times. Edgeley Park’s location will not be bettered. And there’s nowhere 15 minutes from Stockport station we would end up, if we moved we’d end up on an industrial estate by the motorway. It is entirely possible to renovate the ground to a standard that would be more than good enough for the Championship and almost certainly cheaper than building an entirely new ground. I look at what Fulham have done Craven Cottage, Watford with Vicarage Road, Wolves with Molineux, dung with Old Trafford, etc. for inspiration. We have no need to move so why should we? With the nightmare that has been being a County fan for over the last decade Edgeley Park is the one thing we’ve had to cling to. We should be cherishing that not throwing it away.

The only site that may have come close to matching EP is the old Grand Central/Stockport Exchange.
I can't think of anywhere else as remotely well located.
So stay at EP and develop for me.

I never see it mentioned much either but the Main Stand is really a thing of beauty, there can’t be many similar historical stands left in the country. It’s definitely something we should protect and I’d love to see 3 modern well designed stands on the other sides.

Best part about the Main Stand is they've left the old Sale Sharks McAfee advertising on the top because it keeps the holes in the roof covered so the rain doesn't get in.

The stand internally (and the roof and ends) can be replaced/upgraded.

Yeah that’s true actually, it’s very much the facade of it, and to a certain extent the tunnels. Are there any photos of what it looked like pre-fire? Am I right in thinking this one is from the mid-30’s?

If we'd had to trudge out to the equivalent of the Deva in our darkest hour I reckon the gate would have been way down on the numbers who turned up to EP, quite possibly to the level where the money required to get out of the North wouldn't have been there

I'd much prefer us to stay at EP, it wants improving but if the owners can do that without destroying the character of the place, happy days.

Plenty of clubs have redeveloped and got it right. Better to stay where we are and upgrade what we have.

I agree with the posts above. Im not being nostalgic either. EP is in a prime spot. Near the train station, pubs, shops and town centre. When I went to Chester when we won 6-0, it was horrible. Nothing there but warehouses. If this isn't an advert not to move then I don't know what is... Also the front of EP in my opinion is iconic!!

32 out of the 92 FL clubs are playing in new stadiums.. I kinda hope that we just redevelop EP, and keep some character, a bit like Villa, Man U, etc etc have done.
