Could they split the old city/bury facilities in two and have two clubs training there? I'm guessing it's a big facility

Good idea. Not sure from a Sharks POV re space required... but with a squad of around 22 professionals, just how much space would County actually need?? Presumably block-booking the Sports Village at Bredbury might just be an option, even if only short term? Not sure about the extent of the facilities there though.

Any new Ground would have to have all the things EP currently has. So there’s no point. Also we’ve got so much history including the main stand. Massive no from me. Was well happy when I heard redevelopment was the plan.

All As there's no football to discuss and it might be a while before there is. I thought it would be interesting to discuss about a new stadium. Are there any circumstances that you would be happy with moving grounds? I think a well built new stadium or redeveloped stadium can take us to the next level. Look at reading at elm park and after. Huddersfield's gates went up, although I think the current saturation m stadium deal will be problematic for them now hoyle has gone. Breaks my heart (NOT!). Rotherham and donny are success stories. Cov city and darlo got it wrong and paid the penalty. Can you think of any others? I don't mind moving grounds as long as it's 15 mins walk from stockport station. Other than that I do mind, would hate to be on a industrial estate miles away from anywhere. Thoughts? I was replying to thIs original post there. Never want to move and it seems we’re staying put.

I am glad Mr Stott has said EP is our home and has stated he will develop/upgrade the stadium The old girl has character but lack of investment over the years she is looking tired and shabby the facilities again are outdated and need a rethink i would love to see two new stands one at the railway end and the main stand but the facade on the main stand must be replicated in some way this is the face of EP.The Vernon stand could be upgrade in a style similar to the east stand at the sixfields stadium giving more hospitality space... the atmosphere in a newly developed compact full EP would be brilliant why would anyone want to move?

Or at least the home changing rooms are anyway. Good to hear but I guess until more major wrk is done they won’t be able to be increased in size as they are on the small side. I remember back in the Colin Murphy days he had us “do up” the referees room and add in a few little luxuries (A kettle and a TV !)as he thought if we treated them well they were more likely to look favourably on their hosts. Back in those days things were very basic.

I'm the original poster btw. If you read the thread I was persuaded by the arguments. Rewind though when sale were here and were skimming off all the C & B charging us £120k pa to play in our own ground I would have been prepared to move anywhere in stockport to get rid of the systemic problems that were preventing the club going forward. Now they've gone I honestly would prefer to stay at ep. So rewind how did you feel about ep then would you have moved to break the rotten deal sale give us?

That is a great question and one that has got me thinking Every time i went to a game it felt like we were borrowing the ground especially the 15 or so minutes or so before the KO looking at all the advertisement when the game started it didn't matter If sale had started to develop EP like they had plans to do then yes i would have probably wanted away because EP would not of been ours but thank god they built the stadium for Salford reds and sale left EP and stockport council stepped in

I think you're dead right. The ground has tons of character, but for me every stand is a bit shit, and needs work. The main stand is okay - fairly iconic and the most character of all, but only extends 2/3 of the length of the pitch. The Vernon is a dog's breakfast, and always was, even in the days of standing and the extra bit under a different roof, where the concourse is now. The Railway End, ironically, is probably the best of the lot, but needs a roof. The Cheadle End is shite. So you could do a lot, with a lot less outlay than building a new one from scratch. Main thing for me is second tier on the Vernon (current seats were installed with that in mind) and make that the Main Stand, with dressing rooms, etc. It would also look great from the railway line; a real statement for people on passing trains, and a fairly iconic welcome to Stockport. Current main can then be kept as is; a curio and it wouldn't matter as much that it doesn't extend. New roof on RE (or brand new stand if a roof can't be built over it), and the ground would look very tidy. Pity about the CE, but we're probably lumbered with that.

problem at the moment with the CE is that it makes the ground look somewhat lop sided. one big stand and the other parts of the ground more or less the same size. the present EP looks far better from the outside than it does inside for me. those gaps at the side of the main also do not help, but without them how can we gain access to other parts of the ground. do think that making EP a lot larger will be a bigger task than some think.
