Why are people rushing to go away? What’s the appeal? I’ll not be going anywhere for the foreseeable and I appreciate others will have a different opinion but I’d be interested to understand why. My in-laws have just got back from a pre-covid booked holiday to Turkey. Seeing the near empty luxury hotel definitely made it look more appealing, the prices available will definitely tempt people too. I'd feel a bit uneasy taking advantage of a tourism industry on its knees but I can definitely see the appeal.

The places won't disappear will they? Yes some businesses will disappear but I am sure that where there is demand there will always be supply. What's the alternative? Just fook it and carry on? I don't have the answers to that. Like you say though some businesses will disappear. Others may open. But you'd be a brave man buying a small bar/restaurant and opening with Covid in the air especially faced with a bunch of Brits who can't clear their own litter or pick up their own dogshite, ne'er mind wash their own hands and consider the idea of wearing a mask as some kind of attack on their human right to be scruffy swines. The Spaniards are far worse than us in chucking litter wherever they want and not picking up their dog shit. We've a local walkway that everybody knows as "dogshit alley" and a lass round here is making herself quite a lucrative living organising litter picking trips on the beaches and beauty spots. The fishermen in the local fishing port of Garrucha now get paid for fishing shit not fish out of the Med.

And the beautiful Roch Valley, I call 'dog shit in poo bags hung on trees like Christmas decorations" valley these days. Ignorant, dirty, b*stards everywhere it seems.

They're always sweeping and mopping their steps and the couple of metres just outside their homes but you're right about the litter and poo, having said that I can't wait to get back in September (hopefully) the weather here is bobbins.

Correction - The weather here is fantastic To be fair the last few weeks in Spain were not comfortable but the light is fantastic and sitting on the terrace in shorts and flip flops when the sun goes down with a litre of red is what I'm missing more than the afternoon sun.

It is ridiculously hot in the afternoons now. 35 degs forecast for this after with a 1 kph breeze. However, sitting on the terrace after sundown playing dominoes with Mrs Malc wearing nowt but anti mozzie spray while sipping a G & T is wonderful.

lots of stuff has been mentioned, what i,d like to know is do the spanish residents who are not involved in the tourism industry actually want holiday makers back from other countries. they have had it harder than we have had with restrictions and i cannot see how thousands of tourists can help their situation. at the best it will cause no difference but no one can be certain. again i imagine that those with vested interests may win if they have enough clout with the govenments.

I was doing that on a campsite in Ingleton last week. Under the canopy so I didn't get too wet. Still warm enough for shorts and sliders though

Our town is not a tourist hotspot, it hasn't even got a hotel but the locals do understand the importance of tourism to the economy, they know a balance needs to be struck.
