Assuming the latest set of clubs is the confirmed list, there are clearly 10 'Northern' teams in our league with a large distance southerly to the 11th team:
County, Macc, Alty, Wrexham, Chesterfield, Notts C, Kings Lynn, Solihull, Hartlepool, Halifax. I would imagine the five ties would consist of these 10 teams, so maybe:
Hartlepool v Halifax Notts will probably play one of Solihull, Chesterfield or Kings Lynn If Macc play Alty that would leave Wrexham or Chesterfield for us
Although with the logic of the NL I look forward to Dover away on Boxing Day!

Alty and Macc are historically both National League sides, though, and they are one another’s biggest rivals, so I’d be surprised if the League don’t put them together. actually attended an alty v macc game in the late 60,s. it was absolute mayhem. the only thing that didn,t get a good kicking was the ball. think of the dirtiest game you ever saw put ellary in charge of it then multiply by the fingers of a burnley fan and you may get close.

Can’t say I’ve much sympathy for Macc. Though it probably screws over Stevenage as they’ve now got to put a L2 team together. Assuming we get to go to games, it’s a bit of a shitter for us too though. Even though we get a local away, I’m fairly sure Alty will play Macc rather than us at Christmas. Not sure why Alty should get Macc; Stockport is considerably closer to Macclesfield than is Altrincham. Historically, the links between Stockport and Macclesfield are more important too; just look at the respective clubs’ nicknames. (The silk from Macclesfield went on the the top hats from Stockport, Silk Road, et cetera). Alty v Macc is traditionally a huge non-league game often played over Christmas. It’s a much bigger game for both of those clubs than any rivalry we’ve got in this division. I hope they get each other and we get Wrexham.

The last time Alty played at Macc, their fans were terrorised by the milkies and had to run back into the ground at the final whistle, the stewards closed the gates but the milkies were trying to force them open, I know it sounds unbelievable but this is from the Alty forum at the time.

Deary me who would have thought it? Macc, Fylde and Chorley all relegated, Duxbury goes down twice in the same season, we have a positve first season in the national and Sheik Mark Stott brings in his riches and we are light years ahead on and off the pitch from where we were. Funny how things turn out.

Spoke to a Macc fan before who is highly doubtful they’ll be starting next season at all or more likely it’ll be at AFC Bury level.

No real real dislike for Macc despite some of the obvious gloating from some of theirs at our predicament in recent times & can't really blame them for that either. We've always been the bigger club & we gloated as much when citeh fell through the divisions. I work with a die hard Macc fan & i admire him for it, he was too gutted to talk about it today, just feels shafted by the owner of his club & an EFL who seem to make the rules up as they go along, despite all their troubles off the pitch they did enough on it to warrant a place in league 2, Stevenage won 3 games all season & stay up. We scoff at their paltry 1200 gates but every one of them is a real football fan who supports their town, we bitch all the time about the Stockport based gravy stainers & manure fans but Macc have it just as bad, plenty get on a train to watch 'the big two' & forsake the chance to watch football in their own town. Personally i'll always view Macc as a solid non-league team who have punched above their weight for a few years but i fear if their current owner remains in place Macclesfield will no longer have a football team of any sort. That said........I hope they stay in existence long enough, the virus disappears, we play them away last game of the season & take over Macclesfield as we celebrate our return to the football league
