I'm not as cool as most folks on here.... it's big bottles of San Miguel from Aldi for me. I like it, and it gets me kind of drunk, but not like I was when I was in my 20s... I'll remember going to bed and wake up nice and early. I'm not a beer snob, a good lager has its place. Lots of micro breweries do lagers, and to be fair, Ive not found any of them are any better than the premium standard ones, like San Miguel, Moretti etc. I always find a lager hits the spot after hard work. Love a hot day gardening, then a short walk to the Puss for a cold Moretti. San M is lovely. Really pleasant. As are most Lagers. End of the day it's hard to go very wrong with lager as it's so straight forward. I can't think of many lagers I've not enjoyed. That Guiness Lager (Hophouse...something or other) I find unpleasant but it's down to personal choice. If I'm in a certain mood I'll buy Budweiser...a nice light lager that slips down nicely. There's a lot of snobbery about. Ale wise. So many to choose from. Someone mentioned Donkeystone up in Greenfields near me. They do some lovely little 5L casks. I order regularly from Severn Brewery to. So many to choose from and they're all knocking out really superb stuff. One thing we're pretty lucky with in this country is beer. I'm on Franziskaner at the moment. My favourite tipple really. Weissbier. Lovely unique taste. And three for a fiver at the local Tesco. Mind you...that's double the price you get em for in Germany...and you get money back on the empty bottle returns over there.

Been drinking loads at home over the past 6 weeks. Only really a can or two at a time, but quality stuff. Had pretty much everything from Beatnikz Republic, really enjoyed most of their stuff. Then had this, and it’s exactly the beer I’ve been looking for but nobody has ever got it quite right before. Pricey at £5.50 a can and far too strong to drink in a pub but perfect for one at home.

Beers of the match were Sason Dupont and Duchesse de Bourgogne, pretty much the last of my pre-Brexit Belgian stash, recently have mostly been drinking stuff from Lord's in Huddersfield and Titanic (easily the best thing ever to come out of Stoke)

My stash virtually gone need a trip once covid done Noels beer shop is brilliant and cheap post Brexit we will see As mentioned try BB in Davenport, The Bottle stop in Bramhall is good for foreign stuff plus they normally have 2 on draught to takeaway, the bottle shop and Epicurean both in Heaton Moor also very good.

Loved Miami Amor and Tropic Fiesta from Beatnikz. Can’t wait for the tap rooms to all open again. Had a good few days last summer starting at Grub then heading to Beatnikz, Runaway and Blackjack.

The fulsome praise heaped on Davenport's Bargain Booze (which, like that whole row of shops, is not actually in Davenport but in either Cale Green or Heaviley, depending on who you talk to..but that discussion needs a whole other thread) makes me appreciate how lucky I am that it's literally thirty yards from my front door. So it's not so much an off-licence for me as an incredibly well-stocked pay-as-you-go fridge. The Northern Irish bloke who runs it is also a pretty committed Newcastle fan, so I get free with every purchase an update on the latest takeover rumours or a critique of Steve Bruce's selection policy. Now you can't argue with that for customer service.
Oh yes and their beers are good- eg yes the Titanics which I've only ever seen in there. Like Bredders though I'm mostly a premium/ big name lager man, and the best for me are Peroni and... If you haven't tried it yet and are that way inclined then another Italian one Menabrea is a lovely tipple. Don't actually think they do it in BB but any Co-op stocks it, 2 X 660ml for four quid, 4.7% of springtime refreshingness.

I'm a CAMRA life member, and although I naturally champion quality real ales, ciders and perries (the latter being made from pears-'pear cider' is a misnomer: cider is a drink made from apples), I'll drink any good beer. I do think most mass-produced lager is one dimensional, however. I mean, Corrs Light and Bud Light? Why name beers that are rhyming slang? Fortunate to live less than 10 minutes' walk from a brewery and alehouse in Brum (Red Moon Brewery). I've been drinking Sober Brummie from Birmingham Brewing Co. It's 0.5% as is classed as 'non alcoholic'. Of course it isn't , and technically breaks my traditional no alcohol rule during Lent, but in current times I thought it is good to support a local brewery.

And I’d rather pay £16 to enjoy and savour, than £6 for four cans of Stella or similar. Appreciate there is a middle ground though, I don’t tend to usually spend that much. It’s usually about £3/£3.50 a tin.

I have a bottle of Innis & Gunn Islay whisky cask in my fridge 7.4 ABV. A mate gave it to me as in his words he said "you like weird beers & whisky" which i do but i'm sort of scared to give it a go! It's aged in laphroaig whisky casks, i like a single malt but once had a bottle of laphroaig & found it hard to drink due to it's overly peaty taste almost akin to TCP so i'm convinced the beer is going to taste the same....only one way to find out i suppose!
