Decided to have a few scoops today to continue the celebrations. Come to the new 'sound bar' on lower hill gate/underbank, Odioba. Pint of shindigger session IPA, can of schofferhoffer, coke, and a sprite - over 17 quid. Can't see it lasting long at those prices. Don't mind paying for unusual beer, but that's ridiculous. I remember reading somewhere about merseyway that the rent prices for those buildings/units are too expensive and that's why it's empty. I can only assume that it's even more expensive for underbank because it's "trendy" and that's why prices in those bars/pubs are expensive

No idea what a sound bar is so I read their website and still don't. Is it just that they have music on but they're really snobby/gatekeepery about it? That's pretty much it, aye. I have a beard and I was the least beardy bloke in there.

Read that robbies have put in a planning application to refurb and reopen the pineapple on heaton lane. Makes sense considering all the building work round there.

I'd imagine £6.50 for the pint, £5.50 for the can and £2.50 a pop for the soft drinks.

Takeaways, nail bars, vape shops, & barbers seem to dominate small retail places nearly everywhere nowadays. Always baffles me with barbers in particular when a new one opens up in close proximity to another 3 or 4 existing ones.

Always wondered if all those mentioned are not private businesses but part of larger chains not totally running legally. Round my way you get takeaway menu,s that do the same thing at the same price but give the impression of being independent. Our nail bars all look to be run by people from the far east and the barbers all seem to have lads from the middle east working in them all roughly the same age.

Illegal workers have a big incentive to come here and the government does nothing about this (becaue it's costly and complicated and they've defunded the border/immigration forces). Instead they are trying to distract people with these bloody small boats, which carry a far smaller proportion of illegal immigrants. By far the biggest source of illegal workers is via planes. People come on holiday or work visas and simply don't go home afterwards, And there are no resources to chase anyone up. Hence the thriving grey economy.
