Fiorini and Mellon are very different, they’re youth players for those clubs and Fiorini didn’t and Mellon most likely won’t play a first team game for either. Powell signed for very a significant sum as an 18 year old and was a bit of a news story at the time. I think it plays into people’s sub-conscience when judging him. Not because he’s an ex United player but because it supports this idea that he’s some kind of big time Charlie, when in reality everything I’ve seen from his personality supports the opposite. Lots of people had made their minds up on Powell by the end of September last year and refuse to judge him on his merits since, that’s not to say I expect more from him - which I do. “Powell signed for very a significant sum as an 18 year old and was a bit of a news story at the time” And I’d never heard of him until he signed for us (or rather when the rumours started going round) so it means nothing to me. As for “people had written him off by the end of September” I’ve already said I think his best games came later in the season when he played deeper. I really want him to prove me wrong, like Evans was doing at the back end of the season, but on current showing I won’t be bothered if he is moved on. I think we’re better with any number of other players and your top earning big name needs to be in your best 11. Oh Vienna 🎶

I think he had his best games for us in the deeper midfield position. It’s fair to say he’s judged harshly because of his price tag because he is - he’s our most expensive player and he is far from being our biggest contributor. His attitude perceived or otherwise js also something I think it’s fair to say people judge him for. I seriously doubt anybody is judging him because he played a handful of games for Man United. Not one of the people I’ve seen criticising him in the last few pages could give two shits who he played for before. I certainly couldn’t. Do you think people will be harshly criticising Fiorini because he’s come from City? Or Mellon because he’s on loan from Burnley? It’s nonsense. He looked very good at times but he didn't play enough minutes for me and while that's not his fault we need more from our biggest earners, I don't agree with any of the stuff about his attitude as he always comes across really well.

I doubt many on here know exactly when things will be announced.
Some may jump the gun and predict it will be today based on Sam Byrne tweeting, which is often the pre cursor to a signing announcement.
All will be revealed in time.

Powell has done next to piss all. And looked disinterested since he’s been here. For the money he’s on if his only real highlight is a pass at Grimsby away then f*ck him off. Of course he’s the type of player that will probably choose to see out his way too expensive deal by not playing.
We still need some experience and another forward. His wages free up that if we can f*ck him off. Also could pay for Barry. Might not be any truth in the rumours but look at what Madden has done for us compared to him and there’s no contest. Never liked him. If he does stay he needs to do an awful lot for us to justify his daft wage.

If hes on dead on 8k a week, the club still owe him 832k of which he will happily take that and thats before bonuses which probably add another 250k to 500k. No club in championship will think hes good enough, we shouldn't be selling to league 1 (no one will want him that can afford him) and no one in league 2 can afford him. Only way is to pay up the rest of his contract or an agreed % of it but we would still be paying him alot of money.

No f*cker is taking him on. (If the rumours are even true). He’ll just sit out the rest of his contract. Serves us right for giving an iffy player a massive deal!

Let’s hope he steps up to the plate this season.
