Jury's still out on him. He came on yesterday & appeared a bit slow & seemed content to just make the simple passes which weren't getting us anywhere, then he made a couple of really good forward drives carrying the ball & his quality really came out. I'd be happy if we signed him but only for a sensible price, I don't think we've seen the absolute best of him yet & is a player that would benefit from some stability & an extended run in the side, which i think he'd get if he's here next season. Hippolyte for me has definitely earned the option of a contract for next season regardless of what league we're in. His attitude is spot on & his versatility is a great addition to the squad & gives 100% in whichever role he's asked to play. Yesterday he was one of the few players who kept trying to drive forward & take people on & make things happen, he's got a few goals in him too. I'd really like it if he was with us next season.

I always think Croasdale takes 10 minutes to get up to speed with a game. Maybe it's something to do with the position. I think Cannon would really come into his own with an extended run in the team. Time has run out for that this season but he's clearly good enough if we can sign him.

Probably not going to be a popular post but....Ash Palmer for all his goals and getting his head on the ball I can’t help feel that he’s the weak link in defence. This is not just on the fact he got it horribly wrong with their goal yesterday but in many matches this season his passing and lack of concentration have killed us at times, even going back to Hartlepool at home in the play off semi final last season as it was his shocking pass that led to their goal. I honestly think that even if he signs a new deal in the summer that it will be for the bench because I’m certain that we will bring in a statement signing centre back. I put this on Twitter a while back and got slated for it. Love the guy but he’s not going to be good enough for the step up.

Imho Palmer is one of the borderline cases that's pointless debating until we know which division well be in. Got to be worth keeping if we stay down surely.

Always find Croasdale starts games like an express train and then fades especially when he starts games. Cannon looks a step above the average non leaguer but thought even he was not as influential as normal when he came on.

I think from the NLN squad there’s only Ben guaranteed to be here next season. Think Sam and Jordan will be sold/ released in the summer no matter what league we’re in and I think Ash is 50/50 for a new contract at the mo.

It’s worth remembering that if we do go up we can’t bring anybody in via transfer or even loan outside of the window so we would need to be carrying a larger squad. As Sam or Jordan are under contract and versatile I would definitely see them being kept - with maybe short term loan deals to the NL being an option for them during the season if they aren’t involved much.

I don’t think Challinor particularly rates either of them. Keane hasn’t played in a meaningful game since Hogan got back to form and Sam wouldn’t be in the team if MSH was fit and has struggled to make the bench at times as well.

Let’s hope the players don’t read this because it looks as though their long term employment hopes would be better off by throwing the chances of promotion if we follow the football manager themes on here.
Couldn’t make it up really….timing wise.
Hang on……you are making it up.

He rates them less than the first-choice players - that’s how back-up players work. Minihan struggles to make the bench because we’re only allowed five and DC generally goes for an attacking bench and Crankshaw covers multiple positions including RWB. In MSH’s case he is first name on the team sheet when fit because he’s really good. There seems little point in discarding Sam and probably having to pay up some of his contract and then bringing in someone new of similar quality and paying an agent’s fee and a signing on fee to see them take the same on play if MSH isn’t fit role. Hogan is preferred to Keane but remember that Keane was preferred to Barclay and Fish and kept in the squad.

I'm actually surprised Keane isn't being used more in the first-team at the moment, given how well he was playing in Defence prior to his injury and how shaky our defence has been in recent weeks - or in midfield with the suspensions we've had. I don't know if he's struggling for fitness still or if the injury is still niggling him, or if he's not in Challinor's plans but it disappoints me how he's not been used in recent weeks with all these things in mind, plus his versatility, experience within the team and with the players around him who he's played with for a number of seasons and understands how they play, especially the defensive side as it is features a lot of old guard players who have all played together for a number of seasons.

I don't see that, as our starting point before transfer activity would be a far stronger squad than the next best team, with Wrexham having gone. Some tweaks needed, but upgrades would be more difficult to attract.

Keane’s just as capable of a gaffe as all our other defenders and he’s generally pretty terrible at dealing with high crosses. Also Hogan has been the best of the back three in the last month or so for me and he’s the only one he’s a direct fit to replace. Without a shadow of a doubt though we looked at our best as an attacking force when we had Keane and Kitching as our side defenders. Their ability to move into space as the spare men, pass in tight areas and under or over lap the wing backs made us look so good going forward even if it did leave us open. There is definitely an argument for doing that again considering we’re trying to keep it tight and rather than opening up games but because of the individual errors are undermining our gameplan. As we’ve got towards the business end DC had got more cautious so I don’t see it happening. I should imagine a couple of side CBs who have those attributes but who can also defend and have some extra pace will be top of our transfer list this summer.
