I think Barclay has potential to come back and play a part, done very well at Yeovil by all accounts He obv cant be as bad as seen thus far and was in DC early side a fair bit and didnt do too bad so was little surprised when he went on loan as that was when Hogan was having his wobbly run of form Done well as high as L1 so he may come again but im sure if a taker came in for him equally we would let him move on if not give the lad a chance to stake a claim Much way of Sam Walker who had torrid first season with us being a subbed sub several times but then showed players can come back and provide value Sure we will have targets covered for all scenarios though Lets please just get this done next week as loss and i wouldnt be overly confident of 4pts from last two games Could have recalled him and used at any time after the first month. He’s slow, struggles defending in wide areas and can’t cope on the ball when he’s under pressure. Doesn’t solve any of our weaknesses at the back. Hope he's the type of player who just wants to play football rather than an Alex Reid willing to wind down his 3 year deal. If we can get someone to take him, we should take a wash on whatever fee/compensation was agreed for him.

Solves em, he created the problems at the back. Worse than fish was in that game and for me never even had a mediocre game never mind a good one. OK he played in div.1, but only really through injuries to others and not every game was in defence either. Had a good game at Southend early in season And remember him scoring from edge area early on in DC tenure in a win Look i highly expect we will try to move him on but just saying its not impossible for him to come back into fold and play a part Of course it’s not impossible but realistically he’s way down the pecking order in a position we’ll be looking for upgrades in and doesn’t have any of the attributes we need to strengthen our weaknesses.

Quite conceivable though if we do go up that we may not keep Hogan given his age and Palmer as still yet offer him terms and possibly Keane who has played bit part until yesterday or Kitching who not sure DC fancies Palmer and Hogan easiest to move on as out of contract, Barclay not so easy as given came from L1 will be on decent terms he will unlikely get elsewhere and under contract so may be given a chance pre season Defo be in market for both a left and right sided central defender I imagine

This time last year he was seen as an upgrade on what we have though. A league one defender with ability to play out from the back. Don’t think it’s fair to judge him on his time under Rusk where he he was admittedly very poor. As said, it’s probably most likely he moved on but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him being a regular starter for us if he rediscovered his form from when he was at Accrington.

A season long loan at Yeovil or another NL teams beckons.

DC has judged him on his time spent here and decided he’s behind Hogan and Keane and we’ll be looking for an upgrade on them this summer. We all hoped he’d be a ball playing CB with his youth background but nothing I saw suggested he was anything near that.

He was trusted to play in the Rotherham game and in my opinion he didn't have a great game - think it was after that he was dropped and moved out on loan.

He’s had a torrid time here so far but redemption is not impossible. Ethan Ross though? I think he needs to go elsewhere to develop.

Yes conversely if we are looking for upgrades then those will be moved on to replace but as he is hardest to move on in terms of wages and length of contract remaining he may be kept within squad so both points have merit to an extent

Yes Ross doesnt stand a chance with Ben and talk of LAH being back here next season, As a goalkeeper obv fewer opportunities to play, hard to gauge where he stands in wage structure given that he was handed a 3yr contract but been a disaster in majority of games he played, shame as seems a good lad, but one brought in when our recruitment was scattergun and seemed Wilson was making concerted effort to remove all the old guard Hope we can find a move that suits all parties

looking at free agents strikers EFL 1 Sam Vokes Wycombe 16 in 43 Alfie May Cheltenham 23 in 46 Joe Ironside Cambridge 14 in 38 Some good strikers available All depends what type striker we want, Madden now 32yrs old but can see is still supremely fit and plenty good enough, Alfie May is closest in those terms to him and bit younger at 28 but we have Crankshaw who could play upfront in similar role too Probably more priority would be better version of Quigs not sure any of those fit that profile, Vokes is 6ft 1 but 31 and would command big wages I'd imagine be looking at younger profile of player or maybe loanee from Prem club to supplement what is already here Or that would be position pay a fee for with a marquee signing There will be loads of players available out of contract at L1 and L2 clubs that would see us as more attractive proposition if find ourselves in L2 next season hence links with types of players like Callum Camps and Andy Cannon weve already brought in short term Reckon profiling of squad will be improved to some that proven but younger players that have some resale value that could at least allow us to provide more sustainale model

Interesting. I'm surprised he hasn't played more of a role since joining us, especially with CJ getting some starts. He really doesn't have enough time prove that he's what we need, but he's very welcome to try!!! Plus, in his signing interview, DC mentioned that he was a fan and there was a chance of something more permanent - I think?
I agree his performance vs Chesterfield was promising, especially as he will be lacking match sharpness. A decent age, 26, and came through the ranks at Everton but his track record isn't the best (according to Wiki).
He's only played 135 games in his career and over 30 games for one season - not sure if he's had injury issues? His goal record is not quite 1 in 4 (I know that's not everything if he can link-up the play) and isn't even that impressive at NL level. He's not scored more than a handful of goals in the leagues above too.
I'd love Duffus to set the world alight in the next few games but, with Quigley under contract and a solid option, I'd rather we went lights out for goalscoring no.9 with an excellent record in L2 or above (i.e. like Ollie Palmer), or a real up and coming star.
