For those who haven't seen them yet. I do wonder if the way the ball rolls as Madden walks away played a part in how poor that penalty was

I don't want it both ways. I don’t want us to do any of those things. It seems to get some credit when it’s called shithousery as if it’s clever or something but it’s just a different shade of cheating and being dishonest. Other teams may do it, good luck to them. We shouldn’t need to. Sadly I think it's part of the game now. I'd love to hear a recently retired player talk about this part of the game more and his views on whether it's got worse in recent years... especially a player from the levels County have been playing at recently. Know its from a distant past for some and another era but chatting to Vernon Allatt a few weeks back he gave that as a reason he hardly watches football nowadays and wasn,t impressed by husseys action one bit. Its a question many older fans ask, has the game improved for fans on the pitch or not.

Have to agree, i'm sick of seeing players get brushed against & then stand there for a couple of minutes with their arms out, expecting the referee to change his decision. If you lose the ball & don't get the foul, get on with the game & go & win the ball back

A couple of things after seeing the ‘unseen’ video
The penalty is even worse from that angle, and Knoyle needs telling that if he ever does the waving an imaginary card thing again he’ll be out of the door.

What do you think all the other lads were saying?
"f*cking red that ref" "Last man, didn't attempt to play the ball" I'd be disappointed if our lads weren't savvy enough to remind the referee of these.
I don't see what difference an imaginary card is? Sometimes you're too far away from the referee distance wise and that will suffice.
I remember it just became a thing that everyone got angry about in this country with foreign players. Yet you'd have a Gerrard/Terry/Rooney etc talking to the ref. What do you think they were blowing in his ear about in regards to certain tackles/fouls etc?

The way we surround and shout at refs is just as wrong. We shouldn’t be doing either.

The way we surround and shout at refs is just as wrong. We shouldn’t be doing either. Surrounding the referee aggressively is obviously wrong. But to not be in dialogue with a referee consistently through a game is naive and actually rather amateur. Don't forget with thousands of supporters shouting etc you will have to be in close proximity to engage with a referee. I'm not sure we cross the line more than any team to be honest. Possibly less than average. I never condone aggressive behaviour towards an official but a team who doesn't talk and interact will get f*ck all from a referee.

If it was me reffing I’d be less likely to send someone off because the fouled player was waving his hand about, with ‘proper’ refs I doubt it influences the ref in our favour

If it was me reffing I’d be less likely to send someone off because the fouled player was waving his hand about, with ‘proper’ refs I doubt it influences the ref in our favour It's hard to know for sure, it depends on the context on the appealing/surrounding etc. Put it this way, I think we all know throughout football home teams gets more 50-50's and that is generally through pressure
I'm not sure imaginary card waving is my style either really but if I was in the vicinity as a player I would have made a feeling known towards the referee that the player should be sent off in the brief time between him pointing to the spot and him putting his hand in his pocket.
The reason is it's actually subjective, if the referee had thought the Swindon man had played for the ball he'd have only got a yellow under the double jeopardy rule. However, he clearly and correctly felt he didn't. I think the referee had his mind made up on this occassion, he was quite swift in his actions so I don't think our appeals got him sent off but sometimes it can make a difference.
Never seen a successful team of quiet church mices.
Again not condoning abuse. I just don't think waving a card is abusive at all.
If I was a manager I would want a group of intelligent players who understand the laws of the game and I would want them to convey that to the officials they come up against. I would encourage those players to appeal on unison for decisions (reasonably of course and nothing too obvious).

The way we surround and shout at refs is just as wrong. We shouldn’t be doing either. Leeds United under don revie started all that back in the 60,s so its nothing new. Like everything if one team does this the rest will follow if they think it gives em an edge.
